High Schools With Most NFL Draft Picks

Yes. I played on the inaugural football team in 1967. We were in the North Dade League the first 2 years then moved to South Broward.
Very cool. I grew up in Pembroke Pines. I didn't realize that was when they had started. During the early '80's I played soccer there. I played football at Pasadena Lakes. Small world.

Let's be honest, looking at individual high schools and drawing conclusions about entire states and their amount of talent is a bit odd. Why? Because states are different in regards to how talent is accumulated. Some states allow recruiting(Or doesn't enforce the rules on the books), some states don't allow that, or they enforce the rules on the book. No one denies that Florida produces a ton of talent, much like California and Texas. The big difference is that the talent isn't pooling at select schools in those states, the high end, 1st round talent tends to be distributed throughout those states. Keep in mind, there isn't an IMG Academy in Texas or Cali, where they recruit nationally and are getting kids from everywhere. Here's a useful infographic on the last decade.

I don't think that list is right... .I know Southeast in Bradenton put over 18 in the league easy

IMG has kids from all over. Does Chaney ring a bell.

Tx has more #1 draft picks. Dalvin Cook is keeping Florida relevant tbh. Just is a question mark
This is a dumb take lol Dalvin is nice but u do know south Florida has a MVP QB in the league right now?

Just forget about the rest of the state and realize that 5 of the top 10 schools are in Dade and Broward counties. That’s just one tiny portion of southeast Florida. I know that schools recruit players but that’s not something that only happens in Florida. All those private school powers in California aren’t winning games with rich kids.

I grew up in Pembroke Pines as well. Played baseball at Pembroke Pines Optimist and my dad never let me play football. My brother played for Pasadena Lakes though. I remember them getting smoked by Opa Loka in the early 90's.

Those schools in Cali aren't recruiting nationally either. Most of the kids they get are LOCAL. In other words, they are moving between Cali institutions. When IMG gets a kid from Texas, Florida gets to include that kid as if he was raised there, while Texas loses credit for said kid. IMG is a glorified HS Juco, and really shouldn't be included as a traditional HS.

Yes. IMG is the only school like that in the nation. They're not even allowed to compete in the FHSAA. They can't play in the playoffs either. Their season usually consists of games against national private schools and borderline fake charter schools like Bishop Sycamore. Nobody on any of the 5 south Florida high schools listed was recruited from out of state. IMG isn't a south Florida school. They're in Bradenton I believe, which is just outside Tampa. I wasn't including them when I mentioned that 5 of the top 10 schools are in Dade and Broward.

I played baseball at Pasadena and Pembroke Lakes. Most of my buddies played football at Pasadena but my mom wouldn't let me play football either. I mean, this is when we were little kids.

My son played at Pasadena 12 yrs ago and I coached football and baseball there for 5 yrs. Coached with Devin Bush, Ryan Collins we were the most feared team in the AYFL at the time. We regularly smoked PPO. Pasadena represent!

STA: Brandon Linder, Nick Linder, Tavares Gooden, keion Payne, Jermaine Barton, Phillip Dorset, Jelani Hamilton, Anthony Moten, Sam Bruce, Mike Harley

AH: Jared Wheeler, Walter Tucker, Oliver Vernon

NW: 2008 class, Sam Brooks, Ryan Mayes, Artie Burns, Mike Smith

We need to do a lot better. That list is pathetic
Drop the Heritage, fam. Olivier, like myself, is an American Patriot. A school that gave you legendary Canes like Vernon and Darryl Williams, and not so legendary Canes like Larry Hope...

I'm getting real tired of people pulling the IMG rabbit out of their asses to discount the prowess of Florida talent. I wish that they set that **** up in another state, just so people couldn't use that lame excuse to hate. Before I go on my tangent, let me preface some things.

Although I'm as 305 as it gets and I'm as rooted as you get in the state of Florida, I'm no homer by any stretch. You'd have to be one or incredibly dense to believe that any specific geographic area holds a monopoly over athletic ability. Some areas hold more of it than others or may concentrate it in specific areas than others(e.g. SoFla & DFW in Football, NYC & the NE in hoops, Minnesota & New England in Hockey). Common sense ought to tell you that an elite athlete can come from anywhere. I love where I'm from, but not enough to downplay the fact that there are lots and lots talented kids everywhere.

I will be among the first to tell you that places like Texas, Cali, Ga., La., etc. are elite and have been for decades. I'm not ignorant of the migratory patterns that have diminished the talent pool of Rust Belt states like PA and OH and reinforced already fertile areas like TX, FL, CA, GA. You've never heard me get into the NJ coal shoveler jokes. It's always some dudes coming outta there. But when you hire a NJ coal shoveler as HC, there goes you...

But back to IMG. The ONLY people who count IMG kids among the Natives are non-Floridians. Only in-state kids(like Malik if he didn’t go back to Jones)get counted. The last thing Florida needed was more high school football talent. Because, nobody from FL played big-time college ball or went pro before IMG was established.

Never mind the fact that BTW and STA have won natties, and schools like MNW, AH, Central and even Cocoa and Jax Trinity have been mainstays in the National rankings since IMG arrived. Blows my mind that the same ones talking crap about IMG are conveniently ignoring that 1, 3 & 4 are true SoFla schools...

Yeah my cousin and him were boys back at Pines middle school.
Me to... I probably know your cousin.

At that time at Pines Middle we had multiple kids that ended up div 1 football players, div 1 basketball players, Olympic athletes, and Rappers/R&B Singers.

The school was definately Lit.
