Hetherman needs to change

It’s clear this soft zone is not working and leaves receivers wide open, allowing QBs to throw the ball early and no chance for sacks.
Hetherman needs to mix zone with press man and blitz
Need to jam receivers at line of scrimmage and continue to hand check and jostle and reroute receivers. This will allow for sacks to happen.
We have the talent to execute this.
I’m we don’t, no chance for a ship.

OJ is out, Antoine is out, Xavier I doubt is 100%, Fitzgerald is playing DB, but y'all think the defense is going to be stellar? Some of y'all aren't the brightest.
Sure injuries are a part of it, how about the ill timed blitzes or the inability to defend even one ******* screen??

It also gets opposing QBs into a rhythm , easy pitch and catch

I didnt say anything about ***n stellar. There is a gap between stellar and what we seen tonight. Allowing them to dink and dunk and not having to make any difficult throws. They were throwing short passes and we had no solution to even make it a little difficult and force the QB to atleast move from the first read. Thurman was their guy and we just allowed him to run wherever. Unacceptable.

We are playing LBs who have seniority. I understand why we are playing them. But, those guys aren't the best in space. Also, we won't face a better OC this season.

Cannot continue to have Wide Open receivers in our secondary all year and expect to work n.
Needs to play press man and attack Qb
Also sub DBs for LB in 3 rd and long
Looked like dog **** , I would took my chances putting a player like Bryce to cover 45 all night . Our safeties and dbs were horrible tonight .

My gripe is on the DL. JT needs to earn his money the next four games. Injuries happen. But injuries have largely avoided the ends. Until we get pressure with four nothing any of us are debating rn matters.
I think it goes hand in hand, because the QB can get rid of the ball so quick the DL doesn't have time to disengaged and then alot of times our DL is just stonewalled. Bad feeding bad

The coverages he plays behind the Front 4 gives them no time to get there.

You saw what Edwards looked like when his first read wasn't wide open - he was sacked twice and fumbled once.
This

I’d like to see his throw time and air yards. Guarantee he was getting the ball out in 2.3 or less. He just sat back there and looked at his first read and threw it because we weren’t within 10 yards. Very little time to get home.

But that’s what doesn’t make sense. If you want to send a 5th or 6th fine. But they’re bringing a safety from the edge 10-15 yards deep. Couple that with our DL rushing the passer like they’re playing to contain. When they brought in the speed package at the end they had a faster win……still gave up a TD but at least generated some pressure.

For sure. We can’t blame OJ and Frédérique being out anymore. This is a sample size of 8 games, and the schematic requirements put forth ( the last 3 weeks, bare minimum) aren’t working for this particular group. Something has to change.

No injuries was a great bright side. That and we won, of course.
This offense is clearly Natty-Caliber.

Carr is going to carve us up if we play like this, and I don’t think he’s amazing by any means.

The safeties are playing too far back, they were non existent the whole game. The last touchdown they were standing in the middle of the endzone USELESS!

I don't see any better LBs on the roster...Wiley, Bonner, Pruitt, Marcelin, etc. have played some and make no material difference. The problems are schemetical and philosophical. We would be better off with a Manny Diaz "riverboat gambler" boom-or-bust defense this year.
