Hetherman needs to change

I think at this point we are what we are. We have a 7.5 game sample size, pretty disappointing. When bad QBs consistently have their best days vs you, there is a huge fundamental issue. I am one of Hetherman’s biggest fans, but I’m pretty floored that this keeps happening.

Like I don’t know if I trust them, and I never thought I’d say that under him. If they come out and get 7 on this opening drive, it’s time to worry.

Let’s also not forget how we’re nowhere close to reaching the natty game without our defense last year. And judging by how those guys are performing in the NFL, it’s not like we had can’t miss NFL talent.

I think Heatherman is still the goods, but needs to adjust.

If this team fails to win it all the post-mortem is likely going to involve hitting the reset button of the defensive position coaches. I agree that Heatherman isn’t going anywhere and still think he’s a good coach, even though I don’t like his defense stylistically

Heatherman is great when he has plus talent to work with.When he doesn’t like 2 years ago and this year he’s doesn’t seem to be able to scheme anything to help the players he has that might not be as talented ….

I just don’t understand what he’s trying to do. Against running QBs who can’t pass we blitz, they extend and gash us through the air. Against statues we send 3 or 4, who don’t even rush, just push the pocket, and get picked apart. Really a head scratcher.

And the really bad play was the 4th and 1 where we lined up with no one outside and the RB should probably have gone for a TD. Gave me major vibes from the Guidry defense against LVille in 24 when they had a 4th and 1. We lined up everyone leaving the center and both guards uncovered and they ran up the middle for 20 yards. That’s just a DC making a wild *** guess as to what he thinks is gonna happen. Not good.
