He's In !!!

probably will still have to redshirt. training camp is almost over.

Valid dude is 20 years old...He aint redshirtin'

who is he going to pass on the depth chart? everyone in front of him has had a full training camp...he is too far behind.

You don't redshirt players who can play for you right away, especially someone like this young man who was a close call
in qualifying, who may not be interested in 4 years of college.
Athletes like him have the potential to be 3-year players....to redshirt him would be robbing your program of at least one year
of him helping his teammates.
Play him now. Coaches can find opportunities for him if he as good as suspected.
Not sure why alot of folks have this need to see a bunch of folks redshirted.

The problem is that he hasn't been anywhere near a collegiate weight room this summer, he most likely knows little of the playbook, and he's weeks behind his fellow freshmen. He may be buried on the depth chart, just because of those factors, and no matter how talented he is, odds are he won't be able to pass guys who have a similar level of talent, who have been with the team the entire time. That's not including the liklihood that his first semester of collegiate level schoolwork may be a total disaster. This young man would benefit greatly from a redshirt year, he needs a chance to get acclimated to college, and he needs time to catch up to the other people in his class. Now, if he adjusts well and there's a chance he can see SIGNIFICANT playing time this year, then by all means play him. That said, Richards and Bruce will see a ton of time, and with the returning starters, there may not be much time left over for Mullins, even though he's a difference maker.

I'm not convinced he can play right away.

Sam Bruce was/is a much better player than Mullins, and he is behind guys like Dayall and Richards. Berrios will take Bruce's minutes also.

People are making it seem like he's some 3 and done superstar...no he's not. He's a good not great WR and will need time to adjust to the speed of the college game.

so how about all the people who were pooping on Gulliver? "Private school that can't get kids into college" ... and now we have Ced and Mullins. Thoughts?

From what I understand Gulliver has a separate campus for students who struggle academically (i.e. - the athletes that would normally not get into Gulliver on grades alone.)

I didn't go to Gulliver so I don't know if that's true, but if it is, it would explain the struggle that "private school" kids from Gulliver have qualifying for college

No way he's in if golden still here, CMR definitely got program in right direction

That's one of the things Golden did well, he built on the Shannon era road maps, and got a fair amount of kids in. The only kids Golden couldn't get in were kids who weren't willing to work. There's nothing a staff can do about that, but to have a high level plan B. The "Admissions are killing us" argument has been DOA since Coker left. Coker used it as a convenient scapegoat, because his staff were lazy recruiters, and weren't interested in finding a solution. Shannon worked with admissions, to identify at risk kids, and find a way to get them in. Richt will build further upon that, and it shouldn't be a problem going forward.

They do have a second campus for the kids who are behind academically. Most of the athletes are on that campus.

Unpopular opinion: Mullins is a bigger contributor this season than Bruce.

Mullins has gotta be rusty, but I think we need the help, and I think he's got the goods.

I beg to differ. Training camp for Mullins ends when preparations for GT officially commence. If by that time the staff deems him to be not ready then we should go ahead and shirt him.

He's not redshirting.....next subject.

(Dude is 20. You really think he came here to sit for a year after being out of football for over a year already? He will take someone's spot)

It's just so late in the game to make an impact for Mullins. The WR group looks solidified right now.

If anybody's stock has fallen, it's probably Ahmmon Richards. He's injury prone apparently (hurt at All-American game & now with turf toe).

Gimps love trying to be the first to predict a RS. We ain't exactly deep at WR, and we will be able to use more than 4 or 5 guys at WR.
