Here's what I know

247 Update from David Lake:

- Search firm running national search. Drawn interest from big-time candidates. School will take its time.
- Strawley respected in school but not a candidate for AD. May stay on in a different role
- AD decision will be made by Frenk and his advisors based on info from search firm
- Head coach decision by new AD and Frenk
- BoT won't have much say in either decision
BOT runs things if they want, including the president, whom they oversee by virtue of pressure and the fact that they hired him, in most businesses. I'm guessing its the sane at UM.

I'd always wondered why Coker got a free pass as an OC. I could tell right away in 1995 that he was a lot more conservative than Erickson's offense. Coker would always start the game with a way too conservative game plan and only open up the playbook when they got down. If he started out less conservative against Washington we might have won. Yes he had the 2000 offense scoring 40ppg. But anyone could basically. And being too conservative cost us the Washington game and the NC.
Coker had little to work with in 95 (Thanks to Ericksons shoddy recruiting)...not to mention the 11 schollies UM lost right off the bat that yr...

His 1998 offense was pretty **** good.

He just had this weird tendency to go into a shell.

The Coker-T.

H/t @k9cane

LOL, OK, so as the guy who came up with that moniker (Coker-T) let me explain the genesis of it...

It was in 1999 when with Kenny Kelly we kept running so many plays with just one WR(and we had Moss, Wayne and King), but had two tights, and two backs. It was mind-boggling, we would run this on early downs. It was basically a modern day T-formation.

And if you study that year, as soon as Dorsey became the starter -- we didn't run it nearly as much

I was told by a coach on that staff that KK really didnt know the full offense, and him sitting out spring ball because of his baseball commitments was a huge issue

My thoughts exactly.

That 24/7 report is encouraging, most of all because it doesn't mention Manny getting another shot. The process is playing out and they're taking time to vet national candidates for the AD job, who will pick the next coach.

Why is that a bad thing?
It’s not and none of their big time candidates Mario a Kiffin are going to cfp so they have time.

Butch hated Kelly playing baseball.
