Here's what I know

My biggest concern with Jurich is the influence of the search firm.

Again, I have not heard this is a done deal and the Louisville situation is a hurdle that needs to be overcome.

Either Zo or Tony Hernandez is named AD because Jurich won’t agree to keeping DiMare.

If you want the CORRECT "perfect world" answer...

DiMare convinces Jurich to lobby the NCAA to make significant rule-changes for bat-and-ball sports. Head-count scholarships for baseball/softball (have you SEEN how much coverage softball gets on ESPN channels?!) and increased budgets for assistant coaches (no more "unpaid" coaches). DiMare's kid given a few years to prove he can recruit/coach in the new environment, and that he gets the Manny Jr. treatment if it's ever time for a parting of the ways.

That's a compromise I could live with.

Tell the tomatoes guy we can hook him up with Papa John to provide sauce. His kid can coach up the chefs

I was calling someone out whose only comment was to say that Mario and Kiffin supporters will regret wanting that person as a coach without making any argument as to who the poster preferred. My point was that if you are going to criticize people then state your position as to who you want. Don’t just criticize others because that is cowardly.
Now if any of this is too difficult for you to understand, please be specific.

There’s a few like that. They’ve been asked pointedly, who is your choice then? Who would you be happy with? And they don’t answer. Why? They want to reserve the right to bltch - always. It really doesn’t matter who we hire, they’re gonna hate it anyway.

Still war of the roses in here I see. On pages 20-34 I was pumped and encouraged by us heading into a new future at light speed. Pages 35-47 I was disappointed, distraught and defeated at the fact we were “UMing” all over again..At this point pages 47-50 my emotions are all jumbled and im feeling frisky. Imma go watch some more QoS♠️ **** on pornhub in order to help our nation with the healing it needs in this time of divisive racial and tribal political division. Hope we don’t **** the bed. Later folks.

Does anyone if Tony Hernandez went to Columbus? I know he’s a Miami native. Just curious. Otherwise I don’t see how a bunch of ultra competitive type A guys who are putting their money where there mouth is, sign off on the safe, boring pick.

A few days ago, I would not bet against the old guard. They have been ******* UM in the **** for 40 years.

But now that there is some reporting that indicates that contractual terms are imminent, so it seems like the vocal minority will not win the day. I was an early skeptic, but as a Deloitte alum, I have been truly impressed with what Echevarria has seemingly done in 2 months, because I know that "Athletics" was not in his portfolio previously. Frenk is still spineless, but between his two delegates, the nouveau riche Trustees, and Kirk Vilma-puppet, there has been a sudden table-turning on the hardliners who have ruled UM for decades.

This is another reason why I have expressed doubts as to Kiffin ever getting into an interview room in Coral Gables. I've met plenty of these Trustees over the past 35 years, and I do not believe they will quietly accept defeat if Jurich gets the AD job. No, they will likely be twice as vociferous for the need to hire a red-flag-less head coach. I just don't see the conservative wing of the BOT allowing a Jurich-Kiffin combo.

I realize that this is a "guess", but it is a guess that has been educated by interacting with UM administration and Trustees for the past 35 years. I'm happy that my old friend and classmate Jose is pushing the Board in a new direction, but sometimes smaller battles are lost in a bigger war.

Would not surprise me at all if the Old Guard's offer is "fine, we'll tolerate Jurich, but then we hire the HC who is happily married, with kids and local family".
Understand your thought process as it’s rational. However, the old guard is and has been being pushed aside. There’s a few members of that old guard and their associates who are very tired of the results to contribution ratio. Stay on the optimistic side of things, you will not be disappointed. As I mentioned before the word was passed to BJ a couple months ago. With your background you will know that the stubborn status quo contingent was very anti his removal and you see how that turned out.

Blake James laughing his *** off right now. Sabotaged the whole **** athletic department cause he sold 2 coaching spots to the kids of 2 wealthy and powerful men. And now the entire department needs to suck up to a dude that could die in 6 months if he didn’t have a cpap machine so those 2 inept mfers can keep a job. Freaking amazing.

Not sure that Beta Blake got paid for Manny, he just had a major man-crush on Manny.

As for DiMare, he was certainly qualified to get the job. He may not have accomplished enough to keep the job any longer, but he served 19 years as an assistant coach at UM, and was an assistant coach for two national championship seasons.

We DID get rid of Brad Kelley after one season (FYI, a Dave-Maggard-hire)...
