Here's what I know

My question is why would an AD worth a **** allow some coach to come in here and force a conservative style of offense on us when it is clear that TVD excels in an Air Raid type system?
You're assuming that Mario or any HC would try and pare down the offense to something more conservative. With the way he's played, TVD has earned the right to air it out. I doubt any HC would try and change that. Right now, TVD/passing game is the centerpiece of the team.

I don’t understand what is going on.

There are 4 coaches Miami is kicking the tires on.

1. Cristobal

2. Aranda

3. Stoops

4. Kiffin

That’s the top tier. Point #1, those are all significant upgrades from Manny Diaz. Point #2, they all have warts.

I know for a fact Mark Stoops and Cristobal are interested. The other two no idea. It’s about program building and matching weakness to strength

This is Miami, all of you should know Jurichs past is the hold up. There’s older Bot members concerned about that and other issues that happened on his watch while at UL. That’s the same reason some folks have doubts about Miami hiring Lane. There’s members that worry about the image of the program and are nervous about hiring anyone with some checkered pasts. The other group wants Jurich, most of those pushing for him are the same ones taking the program to the next level. That should tell you what group is pushing for the same ole typical hire.
I just received an update and this is very on point.

I was told that AD candidate and UM (frenks chosen ppl) did agree in principle to a deal.

And now, there is a civil war between the BOT members who care about sports and the old BOT who don't give a crap about sports but only UM appearance.

The flip side is that we need some of that style.

We're one of the worst short-yardage programs in the nation despite a parade of NFL backs. We're soft. The key will be to get more forceful up front while also retaining our explosive passing game.
Keeping Rhett becomes more attractive in that situation. If we were to add 150 yards of offense on the ground to this O... the ability to pick up 3rd and 1... maybe bring in a Running-OC like Frank Ponce to team up... Miami could go for 45 per game. Then you just need strong DEs and 2ndary to win bunches of games.

This makes perfect sense. Frankly, if the old guard win out in spite of the president and other BOT’s putting up the money, we should turn out the lights on Miami athletics. It will demonstrate that this university is incapable of ever turning things around.

UM was down during his 2 NCs (93,99) but he had 3 Excellent Coordinators, Brad Scott/Richt, and Andrews....
I remember the early 80s. Bobby Bowden was a heck of a coach. He just did things differently back then. I remember NFL teams wanting him, but he just loved the college game too much to leave it. Later in his career he had some great assistant coaches, but early on it was all him and his vision.

I think what really irks me is 2019 and 2021 are too similar for my liking. Cristobal had Justin Herbert (good enough to be a #1 overall pick IMO) , a talented team, a shot at the playoffs, and blew it with a loss to an average Arizona St. This year he had an inferior QB but a more overall talented team, had a shot at the playoffs again, but was demolished by a team that is #32 in overall talent (Oregon is #9).

Folks keep saying "he won the Pac12 last year" but it is a fact that Oregon only made it to the game because UW couldn't play. And then Oregon beat a USC team that ended up firing its HC 3 games later.

Let's say after kicking UMs *** last year, most of the UNC team got sick and couldn't play in the acc championship. Be honest- would you be saying today that Diaz led UM to the "ACC coastal division crown" last year, which would be UM's 2nd acc coastal division banner with him as either DC or HC?

Look I'm not trying to say UM should avoid Cristobal. I'm being critical because this is like buying a house that you like. Any intelligent homebuyer is going to try and get a much better price by pointing out the peeling paint on the side of house, the bad wiring in one of the bedrooms, the drip in the kitchen sink, etc. You have a price point in mind so you are going to point out the flaws to make sure you get the price you think is fair. From what I gather on this site, UM is going to make him a massive offer. Is Cristobal worth 5-6 million? Yes, I think that's a fair price. Is he worth 8-9 million? I would say probably not, especially given that everyone agrees that any chance of success depends on him hitting homeruns with both his OC and DC hires (which means lots more $$$ required).
It’s more than fair to outline the red flags. Leading voices on this site do the sunshine pumping. That’s what they do and that’s what they’ll always do. We already have people saying TVD is the next josh allen first rounder with a severely small sample size and now they’ve anointed Mario.

Fwiw I’d be pretty happy with hiring Mario. I’m just not deluding myself as to some of his pretty serious shortcomings.

I’m sure if Mario got here and called and talked to the Rogers family it would be a different story…. Maybe Mario didn‘t kiss his sons or his *** enough at a camp or something and that ****ed them off. I’m a Lane guy because I do think he’s a better coach on the field/gameplanning/etc. but Mario recruiting shouldn’t be an issue especially if he put a decent staff together. ****, what happens if Mario wants to keep T-Rob as the DB coach? Rogers has been committed this long to a pathetic HC and would want to jump once a solid HC wants to come here? Doesn’t make sense.

This is crazy. Get those old farts out of the BOT.

That’s interesting, lol. I wonder why? Maybe it has nothing to do with Mario, just saying regardless of who it is/if there’s a change? Ah well.
Someone then asked, so does Manny get another year? and his response was "definitely"
