I hope we get to play A&M. Another sellout with that L.
The SOFLA “handlers” would say “oh you gotta win first” “oh you gotta play on big stage” “oh you need to develop first round picks” …..still dont mean a thing. No group of elite players leave their home area at a higher rate than SOFLA.
If anyone is surprised by this reasoning than that person is a fool.My kid goes to Heritage and one of the football players shares the same agent as Mathews. I was told its about playing time. He is being promised to play as a Freshman. He is 98% gone is what he said. We already knew he was gone but that's the info that was shared with me.

Whatever WE think about MM, he and his family most likely believe he is a 1st round pick after 3 years of college. So they most certainly will try to find a place that puts MM in the best position to reach that 3 years of college goal.
People on CIS are writing things like, “look at Samson and how he developed”. I guarantee MM and family are looking at Samson thinking “I don’t want to be him and finally starting after in year 4”. They likely see Samson as a reason NOT to attend UM.
I assume most of you have never had a family member expect to be a 1st round draft pick so let me fill you in. My nephew was a McDonald’s high school all-American basketball player. He chose the college he did in large part because he expected to be a 1st round pick and the coach at the school he attended assured him of a starting spot from day 1. I didn’t agree with the decision and I didn’t like the coach he chose to play for, but I heard all the discussions about being a 1st round pick. And once people start thinking that way there is nothing anyone can say different. Not even more money because a few $100,000 difference pales in comparison to the idea of being a 1st Round pick after 3 years of college.
How much of it is sports culture down here? There’s so many transplants here, you go to the bar on NFL Sunday and Dolphins fans are just speckled into a sea of Giants, Jets, Steelers, Eagles etc fans. Kids born in south Florida chose other home town teams because being an outsider appears to be the move. Isn’t Pete a Knicks fan who hates the Panthers?? lol
The stadiums are empty and the home teams are outnumbered by opposing fans. There’s very little sense of hometown pride in a place so few consider their hometown.

I get kids going where they think gives them the best shot at the league, but are there stats that show starting as a Freshman on OL makes you more likely to be a 1st round pick? Great players may start as a freshman but I don't know that ungreat players starting as a freshman makes the ungreat player a first round pick, meaning I don't see a cause-effect relationship to a promise of starting and making the NFL.If anyone is surprised by this reasoning than that person is a fool.

Its almost assuredly not that deep fam lol ..not every kid in Miami is dying to be a Hurricane, it is what it is you just gotta accept that instead of creating make believe scenarios in your head.I mean why else move 1500 miles away for less money. That screams a guy who doesnt have a good home life. Contrast that with Fletcher and Mali who are all about family
One thing about this younger generation is that they are bigger fans of players than of teams. Fantasy football and social media really changed that culture. It's not just a South Florida thing. These kids just aren't as loyal to their hometown teams as we were. So many of us became fans of our teams because of where we lived, or because of our parents, and it's just not the same anymore. These kids wear jerseys from players from so many different teams. How much of it is sports culture down here? That’s true, unless you live in Baton Rouge, Columbus, Ann Arbor etcOne thing about this younger generation is that they are bigger fans of players than of teams. This program is about more than one player or recruit. Its almost assuredly not that deep fam lol ..not every kid in Miami is dying to be a Hurricane, it is what it is you just gotta accept that instead of creating make believe scenarios in your head.
