Here's what I know on Mark Matthews...

Only thing I’ll say is the notion that he has to play for Miami because of his hometown is slightly hypocritical. If we want to land any national target, there’s going to be a school he was in close proximity to but still chooses Miami. So yeah we want to keep the local guys, but it’s not as if this doesn’t happen to everyone. Just so happens we have a higher volume of “local” targets
Yeah i wonder what Bama man dem saying about Jatori Williams about to high tail outa there lol. This shyyt goes around and comes around like a hoola hoop.
I mean Phenix City is nowhere near Tuscaloosa and has a COMPLETELY different vibe. They tend to get the guys from nearby that they want.

It’s more the position than anything else. Our bread and butter is oline and SFL doesn’t regularly produce top end players at this position.

If the kid goes to Texas am- he’s gona have to fly his parents/family to Texas for 6/7 games a year at a minimum vs his family takes an hour drive or less to his games here. So if the money is the same or less, he’ll come out loosing financially going to Texas am in travel $$ alone. Doesn’t make much sense logically

And what exactly has Elmo done to earn this reputation of being a “great coach”
Are we really doing this? When he took over Duke they had just gone 5-18 the previous two seasons and in year 1 he went 9-4, finished second in the Coastal, won a bowl game and was named ACC coach of the year.

When he took over at A&M they had just gone 6-4. Two years later he wins 11 games and makes the CFP.

He’s a douche, but it’s just silly to claim he’s not a good coach or that he’s done less with more.

You think he’s paying to fly them out? I’m sure that’s part of the nil package.

But it’s already been said that we have the best nil offer.

Likely what happened was the agent delayed announcing in order to get A&M close to Miami’s new number and they did. And Texas has no state taxes either so we don’t have that advantage.

Kid wanted to get away from home and fell in love with that weird place. In his mind he’s having his cake and eating it too.

There’s no way J Smith enjoys Columbus lol but they were the sure thing at the time.

So he’s a douche but a great coach at the same time ? I just think we are quick too quick to anoint these days, it then just gets regurgitated and its facts. I don’t think he’s a great coach, time will settle the debate.

Maybe not officially but if you’re the agent you don’t say oh I need an extra $150k a year for my family’s lodging?

There’s a suck tax for nil too. Ask fsu what they paid that WR for coming back which he probably regrets lol.

He also just had ten players drafted, so he’s doing something right.

South Florida for college station? If the whole family is moving just seems even more silly to move the family for 3 years and to then move again vs staying where you are.
