TAMU made the move needed to get him on board. The mere threat of a visit to Miami was enough to get that little bit extra. Mario will keep recruiting him, but I don't think this is going to end well. When a guy consistently does stuff like this, it's obvious that he's looking for a reason to leave and TAMU is giving him that reason. It is what it is.

There's a reason Jimmy, Butch and Mario all recruited nationally, and did it to great success. The "State of Miami" myth is just that. There is a lot of talent in South Florida(and Miami should concentrate a ton of energy in the area, because it's home), but it's almost impossible to keep all the elite kids home, it's more difficult than other states, where the elite kids rarely leave. You NEVER see hyper elite kids leave Georgia, unless UGA is complete crap. You rarely see elite kids in Louisiana leave, unless LSU is a greasefire(Warrick Dunn). Texas kids end up staying in Texas, at worst they end up at OU.

Even when things are going well at Miami, local kids will find a way to leave, to head to the more traditional programs. In previous generations, it was the concept of getting a bag that Miami couldn't offer without the NCAA breathing down our necks, today it's "I want to see something different".

I'm sure one of these dudes on here is his PR manager & can give you the Souf Flowrida azzkisser version as to why he doesn't wanna come here. But quite frankly Idgaf.

Mario & Mirabal just sent our starting RT to the league at the #10 spot, then followed that up with landing the #1 ranked OT in the Nation for the 26 class & will be starting him at LT as a True Frosh.

There are very few on the board who are more skeptical & have their own opinions regardless of the circumstances than me, and I've repeatedly said that OL is not & will not be an issue under Mario, doesn't matter who signs here or not.

I said it earlier in this thread & I'll say it again, Miami is at the very top of the totem pole when it comes to OL development. It's Miami, Oklahoma, Iowa & Notre Dame, everybody is getting in where they fit in.

If an OL particularly an OT, doesn't wanna play for Mario/Mirabal, it's on him, not us. It's not a loss, or a miss, or anything of that nature. It's simply a primadonna who wants rose petals thrown at his feet, but unfortunately that's not the makeup of this program anymore. We're no longer desperate.

We will win & thrive without players like this.

If people wanna wash his balls just because he goes to STA, just let them.

We miss because we go after the top guys. We do get ours but with all the different things we have to go against you aren't get every top kids nowadays. NIL, SEC bias, handlers, etc.

I would say we have never recruited better in the trenches under Mario all things considered. Also just read Miami has signed the most 5 star line of scrimmage recruits since Mario has been here.

If he comes he comes. Thats more money out there for n elite defensive tackle n edge rusher plus another offensive lineman im not sweating this like most on here are.

Lmaooo and WE aren’t on the PR warpath?! We just tried to steal MM with a bag. And spent a bag on Wright so it looks good when we miss on some trench guys and some guys we have already missed on. This staff KNOWS it has to have a top 5 class after last year. No matter how they get it. Anything outside the top 10 after last year and all the hype you get as recruiters is gonna take a hit.
 
If Matthews goes to TAMU that gives them 4 OT in this class. If the ship sailed with Olu and/or Sam-Eppelle Go poach one of those OT’s and develop him into a 1st rounder. Then use the savings on DJ Jacobs along with a top 10 DT

Probably hedging in the event things go down like the Cantwell recruitment. Can backdoor back into saying Miami was always lurking or whatever. I’d put no stock in what he says personally. Gotta drive clicks as well too.

Yea they go after so many heavy hitters the miss a lot like you mentioned. Only good thing is they land a few killers that hit big time to offset the losses. Like the 3 five star d-line guys years ago massive hits to make us forget about the guys we missed on last cycle. Same if we land DJ Jacobs this cycle everyone will forget about everyone else

And the big difference is that our 5 stars actually played like 5 stars. Unlike some of those other teams.

Man I hate the fact that if we miss fans say use the funds for that miss on someone else. Like bruh we can sign all of them if we want. It’s not a money issue we can get them all. But if and when he goes to TAMU who cares it’s OL and we have had great evals there and the best coaching is on our OL. We got depth there we can get a great RT next class or use our young depth there.
