Kirk has been giving Miami props for years. The problem is that every time he would pick us to win a big game we'd end up crapping the bed and make him look foolish. I think that's why he tempered his enthusiasm for us for a while.
 
He's not giving us as much praise as you think. He pretty much said we dominated ND because of the home field advantage, not talent, & that now they'll find out who we really are when we play UVA & Pitt in empty stadiums without hype. Even predicted Hard Rock will be about 60% full this week. Said we were "lucky to get by" FSU & win the close games.

No matter what happens, they'll come up with reasons to doubt us while trying to talk up some 2-loss SEC or Big10 team. Yeah, he was big on Miami & talked up the U back in the day. But don't fool yourselves...that's no longer the case.
 
I like Herbie, when we were beginning our downward spiral he held on to us for a long time and we just kept sucking and he moved on.

I'd agree with a lot of what you said with the exception of Desmond Howard. I think that dude actually tries to modify his own Wikipedia page to say he played for Miami.

Yeah Des is definitely A big ambassador dor for Miami in the media especially at espn even though he didn’t go here

Yes there are a tiny few that respect us. Desmond some (remember he’s still a Michigan man), and there are a tiny few that are truly all in as canes by choice, much like most of our fan base which are canes by choice, mostly from south Florida and a some outside of here. But as far as the media or general popular culture, it’s a tiny few, like Marcus Lemonis, or Chuck Todd. That’s it.

I have been posting the same thing several times to no avail. I believe many posters have nothing really to contribute to forum so they repeatedly bring up issues of people and institutions hating us. Too many young immature kids have difficulty realizing that hating us motivates players. We therefore should endorse the hate. Negatively about us probably was a factor in destroying n dame.

Herbie definitely loves us. That bit about not bringing your A game for the matchups against less talented teams is spot on. I felt like he was speaking to our team directly and not doubting our potential. Clemson played pretty flat against Pitt last year and you saw what happened. Fortunately for them it worked out.
