Head of search committee for Donna's replacement

Whoever it is, I hope she has Donna's blessing so that he/she can continue to build on her legacy.

I am thinking of starting a GoFundMe for a 4 foot life-sized statue of Donna to be placed in the middle of Lake Osceola.

why do people get on the BOT of a school they never attended?

I'm guessing his kids went to Miami, at least?

I think other factors are MUCH more important than where the person went to school. Guy looks like a superstar (see post #26 above).

I wasn't asking why a school would accept such a person. I was trying to figure out why a person would want to join the bot of a school that wasn't their alma mater.

He's the CEO of a major company based in Miami, FL. Makes perfect as to why he'd want to be associated with the most prestigious university within the community. Especially one who was presided over by someone with massive ties to the White House.

Many people, including me, have a tremendous interest in and affection for universities in general. I enjoy the intellectual atmosphere and the pursuit of learning for its own sake. I like the types of people who are inclined to do research and teach. Many of us treasure the memory of our time in college and would welcome the opportunity to be in some way involved again with that sort of situation.

Of course, Richard Fain might see things in his own way, but it seems natural to me that some people would be attracted to having an association with a college or university regardless of whether it was their Alma Mater.

So if you lived in, say, north Carolina it would interest you in becoming a bot of say NC ST or one of the other schools? This assuming you had the connections and were in a similar standing as this dude.

Personally I don't think my heart would be in it. I'd probably view it more as another job than anything, too each their own I suppose.

Thanks. You made me take a closer look. Personally, I would rather spend more time with those that I love than assume another professional or civic commitment. I like to enjoy each day, and people and feelings mean more to me than doing more "stuff." But I do see a lot of people who are extremely active: going here, going there, doing, doing, doing. If I wanted to participate in more social or civic activities, doing something involving a university would be high on my list.

If they can play basketball games on an aircraft carrier, it's time for a football game on a cruise ship. UM would have the only floating stadium.

Can you imagine how many of Jacory's passes would still be floating on the waves? The ship would have moved a few thousand yards before the ball came down in the open ocean. He was not what you call a seagoing QB.
