This is 100% pure speculation on my part, based on nothing more than a fleeting thought passing through my bong-resin soaked mind, but this smells like he got caught smoking weed (again?). Similar mystery management theater we saw last year with Jojo.
 
If the Canes let him go, is he still banned from using the Portal until after this coming season? Hope so.

I was thinking it was something like this, because i was gonna say if he repeated whatever he did there should be no room for a 2nd chance but if its weed then i understand

It’s hard to shake that habit off right away. Hopefully he finds the discipline to do so or he’s wasting his and our time

You have to be a straight pot head for anyone to even care these days. I don’t think anyone tests for it so it would have to be to a point that he isn’t able to perform his normal day to day activities. And at that point he’s an addict.
Let’s hope this isn’t the case because I can guarantee no coach cares about weekend smoking as long as the player was taking care of business. Just like they won’t care about a few drinks unless it interferes with responsibilities.

But we’ve seen it happen with others so nothing would surprise.

This is one of the few things I’m not in support with Mario. It’s medically legal in Florida, so there’s no reason whatsoever to be this much a disciplinarian about it. Unless dude is moving lbs out his apartment or something like that, let the man smoke.

I thought that drug testing probably stopped (for weed anyway) when it started becoming legal. I don't disagre with anything you wrote. I would also refer you back to the disclaimer(s) I included on my unverified thoughts/claims.

I can't stress this enough. What I suggested was based on literally nothing - a thought passed through my head and I wrote it into the internet. I said as much in that comment. I mention it again here because before we start attacking the coach, attack the porster (me) who wrote that unverified/unsubstantiated claim.

That said, I agree with what you wrote, aside from the support of Mario. As @AtlAtty wrote earlier, I don't think most D1 football coaches give a F if players are smoking weed, so long as it isn't interfering with the day to day.

I’m all for legalization, but I don’t agree with this take.

It’s about culture, rules, accountability, distractions. Whether it’s legal or not, that’s the standard and you can abide by it or go to a less serious program.

Plus I wouldn’t want a team full of pot heads but that’s just me.
 
Certainly seems like something Is going on. The silence is revealing.
But maybe it will not lead to his departure or expulsion. Maybe it'll be a suspension for a few games. Dunno.
