Have thing changed? Say it IS so!! (some thoughts on the NCSt victory)

I’m being sarcastic, but it’s like our staff actually looked at film last week and gameplanned after vacationing since the FSU game. What a performance. Fun game, and the weather was amazing.
It really is crazy. We’re clearly doing things much differently…since our 2Ls.

I have such mixed feelings the past few weeks. I love the switch up and we’re doing what I expected…but seriously can’t believe we had to take the SMU loss to make changes.

The writing was on the wall the whole time. If we “self-scout” at all, which Mario loves to talk about (and every single team in the world does), how did we not adapt to clear weaknesses? Things were going downhill and we were flirting with losing. IT WAS OBVIOUS.

I don’t even care about the Louisville loss. It sucked, but it’s hard to go undefeated (though we should have in this conference) and Beck laid an ostrich egg. I can live with the mulligan. We were fine.

But to have all that time and money on staff and they stuck with what wasn’t working? **** man, it really hurts.

Just doesn’t make sense. And now we’re paying for it.

I just hope somehow it doesn’t kill our dreams again.

lol and Jordan Lyle had 6 carries for a 104 yds against USF last year, 17.3ypc. Funny u think his stats mean anything last game. I’m not basing my opinion off of 1 game, I factor in everything and he’s mid.

Bet u thought Lyle was gonna be better.
You’re factoring in Hellcats grand total of 15 carries over 3 other games?

I've been thinking a lot about this too.

It's almost as if Cristobal overrated the talent on this team. After we started 5-0, it's like he thought we were a Saban Bama team and could just line up and play vanilla and beat the other team.

I am very glad to see the change. Big positive, and it hits on a concern we've all had, which is is Mario just a big, dumb jock whose answer to everything is work harder (not smarter)?

We didn't change very much of anything. We've just played cupcakes.

The 3rd game of the year, we played USF. We scored 49 points, and averaged 8.47 per play.

On Saturday, we played NC State. We scored 34 offensive points, and averaged 8.30 per play.

So let me guess....against ND, Mario called the plays. Then Dawson changed it up entirely against USF. After that, Mario went back and unchanged everything, until last week, when Dawson finally got back behind the wheel, and we're great again.

This is an average offense. When they play horrendous defenses, they can have spike weeks. When they play good defenses, they usually look average.

The worst 2 defenses we've played all year were the last 2 weeks. Shockingly, those were 2 of our 3 best offensive outputs of the season (the other being G5 USF).

The one that really has me scratching my head is Stanford. That was rock bottom, for me. Maybe we just felt sorry for ourselves after Louisville? I don't know, but that is an outlier. They are ******* pathetic and we were stuck in mud for the majority of that game. The rest of this makes perfect sense to me.

Last thought, I need to do my rewatch but we did break tendencies a few times, which is obviously great. We threw the ball twice on 3rd and 2 in the first half, which literally we haven't done since the FSU game (just think about the absurdity in that, by the way). We also ran play action on 2nd and short, something we literally never do. Plus all the trick plays. It took 2/3 of the season but the staff finally realizes you can't beat good teams getting 5.5 yards per play and snapping the ball every 35 seconds. A little tempo, a little change-up, some eye candy, god forbid hit an explosive or two...and now we go.

Pitt will be the tell for me about whether or not this offense has actually improved since mid-season. They're competent on defense. VT is pathetic, Saturday should be another stat padding game.

There’s always been the argument that we should beat the **** out of the teams we should beat the **** out of. We did that the last 2 weeks. Granted, we lost to Ville and SMU, but many thought those 2 would be toss ups and we lost for various reasons that have been discussed ad nauseum.

The last couple of weeks, it’s obvious Dawson has changed up his play calling. Mainly letting the guys have some fun and playing looser. The next couple of weeks will certainly be telling to see if the trend continues.

Just say u suck at scouting/projecting. wtf u think highschool tape is for?
You took a pretty small sample size to call someone “mid”.

I hope your current boyfriend doesn’t judge you on your 2 pumps dumps with other male cheerleaders while you were in high school.

His whole high school tape is not a small sample size. I don’t know if u know this, but when u watch highschool tape u look at the tools of the prospect and see how they’ll translate to the next level. Thats the whole point of recruting.
