Have thing changed? Say it IS so!! (some thoughts on the NCSt victory)

This was our best game of the season.

Yes, NC State is a bad defensive team and our offense abused them appropriately. We should have had even more points but we had a touchdown wiped away on a fake penalty and Davis missed a very make-able garbage time field goal. The offense was aggressive and unpredictable. We have a running back who doesn’t just run into the pile and Carson Beck was close to perfect. This is exactly what you need to do against a team that struggles to stop anyone.

Far more impressive was the defense. This was a good offensive team we played. They average 33 points a game and they didn’t even run a play on our side of the field until garbage time in the fourth quarter against our backups. Scott and Blay, who have both played great for us this year weren’t missed at all. Our defensive line harassed their quarterback into multiple bad throws and held a running back who was averaging seven yards a carry to negative yards on the day. This is about as good of a game defensively as any team has played this season.

For a team that’s been very inconsistent and predictable on offense, this was a very encouraging game. We don’t need 500 yards and 40 points to win games but it sure is nice to get them.

I am happy Lofton finally caught a pass or whatever, but the TEs aren't good. Get them off the field at least half the time, go 4 wide and get Pringle more space.

Well said on all points.

The score, it's what it should look like. The offense, didn't just play to play out the remaining time with a lead, but played to put more points on the board.

The defense took their breath away and the offense took their life. CJ was under fire all game, well done D.

I want to see more of the starters watching in the second half vs VT with a massive blow out victory for Miami. We needed to get reps for the 2s & 3s.

We also weren’t forced to play anyone nicked up. Hopefully Blay, CJ, Fletcher, OJ, Scott are back by Pitt or the CFP. We will need them!

Very impressive play from the DBs. Even without the All American Scott.

The more we run the "trick" plays, the more it becomes a consideration for defenses to defend. Im fine with it.

Pringle runs so well. Its funny that as soon as the reporters press Dawson on the inside runs, he starts calling noticeably more outside runs and counters. And they work very well. They all go for 8 to 10 yards.

Still aren't good at blitzing and finishing.

So often our guys are close enough to hear the QB whisper, but for whatever reason, can't seem to grab him.

Still no juice from the TEs. There's just no athleticism or spark. Good on Lofton to get a TD tho.

Refs continue to **** with Miami. First half was fine. Its like they were trying to prevent a blowout.
I wonder if we can get charted runs and keep track of duo inside runs and the runs on edges and see the production.. It seemed whenever they tried to revert to inside game it just stagnated the offense.. lol.. THROW IT AWAY

Defensive performance felt VERY legit. We have been nails against the run this season and as OP said, with a lead, we are very difficult to keep out of the backfield. Secondary is so deep that we didn't miss Keionte all that much against a good passing team.

The jury is still out on the offense for me. Pringle is awesome and needs to keep playing, Marion made a lot of posters including myself look stupid for doubting him a few weeks ago and it is easy to see how much better Beck is when the running game is successful.

But we still took WAY too long to get going, look one-dimensional in the red zone and lack true big play potential in the passing game. We just don't have a guy who can take the top off a defense and you can tell Beck would LOVE someone like that on the roster.

Ultimately I feel way less nervous now than I did this morning and Pitt looks VERY beatable on the road.

Jakobe Thomas is becoming legendary. That shot from the end zone of him returning the int and telling the tackler to come here is the best thing I saw today.

if a bama or 0su player did that **** it would go viral....but we all already know

We all know we wont be see'n that **** on espn college football final ...ol'joey and barrie have serious HATE for the Canes

Even McShay is talking about Bain not getting home.

This might be an oversimplified take, but I think Bain is so dominant off the edge that the QB always accounts for him, so they either get the ball out quick, or move away from Bain, which leaves them susceptible to mesidor or other getting home.

Bain makes offensive coordinators have to change everything they want to do. For the most part, opposing teams have to play left handed. I don’t care what the number is in his sack column.
