Has our NFL U reputation hurt our ability to keep players for 4 years?

The NFL u moniker doesn't effect anything. Miami hasn't competed for anything of late so why stay? This is a big year for Miami in a lot ways cause if Miami goes on wins double digit games, and all the draft eligible players come back that will not only set the tome for a potential big year next year, it will also set the tone for the younger guys wanting to come back and win championships.

The days of the upperclassmen going through the motions needs to end and it looks like this group, led by mostly OOS players, can be the group to end it.

GET YO 3 & FLEE might as well be plastered all over the walls in the locker room

It hurts; but it is exacerbated by the lack of depth. It seems that all across the country, more and more kids leave early (understandably). But we are just not deep enough to absorb the blows of kids leaving early. Add Jeff Thomas, Deejay, Bandy, Garvin, Rousseau and suddenly the depth looks quite different. Admittedly, we're actually in decent shape at DE and RB but WR and CB are two thin areas.

IMO it's a vicious cycle, related to recruiting that directly relates to the low NFL draft picks that NFL U, now produces:

1) Miami hasn't been a truly competitive program for years. They often end-up with what's left after the competitive programs cherrypick recruits.
2) The flaws identified in some of these athletes by other programs, manifest itself in this program with under performing teams, changing staffs.
3) Still, some of those athletes, with a couple seasons of football structure might be worth a late round NFL pick with the hope consistent coaching and development can pay dividends.
