James is no stranger to South Florida, beginning his athletic career with the University of Miami, working in ticket sales, corporate sales and athletic development. In April 1995, he was hired as Miami's Director of Ticket Sales, serving in that capacity until October 1997, when he was named an athletic development officer at the University of Nebraska. He returned to Miami in 1998 as the Director of Major Gifts and Corporate Sales. He was promoted to the Director of Athletic Development at Miami in March 2000 before moving on to Providence in 2002."

Providence College ("athletic development", i.e. fund raising): "Prior to his stint at Maine, he worked in athletic development at Providence College, where he established the "Friars Forever" campaign and the Friar Athletic Fund."

University of Maine 2003 to 2010 (again, started managing ticket sales before taking over as AD. As AD the University of Maine experienced its worst five year football record compared to the five years prior and five years following his tenure): "James came to UM after spending seven years the University of Maine, where he first served as Senior Associate Athletic Director before serving as Director of Athletics from July 2005 to September 2010. As Senior Associate AD, his primary responsibilities focused on marketing, ticketing, retail operations, athletic development along with men's and women's track and field, cross country, men's soccer, men's basketball and baseball."

UM 2010 to 2013 (he primarily managed the ticket office): "Prior to his Interim AD role, he served as Miami's Senior Associate AD for Development and Ticket Operations. James oversaw the day-to-day operations of development, ticket sales and ticket operations. He was also a member of the Hurricanes' senior staff and provided sport supervision."

Summary: The overwhelming majority of Blake James athletics department experience is in running ticket sales and fund raising. His sole stint as an actual real AD responsible for team performance was with a Div 2 program (Maine), and even that was distinctly unimpressive as the Maine football program from 2005-2010 (Jame's tenure) had a worse record than before him (2000-2004), and after him (2011-2014).

Conclusion: Blake James knows about as much about creating a winning power five conference football program as my wife. And my wife doesn't know a thing. He's a ticket sales and fundraising guy. Period. UM has the worst Athletic Director among all power five football programs, and consequently we are stuck with one of the worst head football coaches in all of Division 1 football.

That a football program with the history and stature of UM has Blake James as its AD is absolutely pathetic.

NU fans might disagree. The amazing thing is Donna's ability to go from horrible AD, to even worse, to maybe worse ever. Woman has superb talent eye. Maybe she helped Al pick his assistants.

new president .... will let Al & Blake go relatively quickly
everyone complains about Golden but it seems everyone is finally waking up to the fact
that Senior Mgmt. Donna/BOT have been asleep at the wheel for 10+ years
I do not want this group to make any more class on the football program period.......
football put us on the map... last 10+ years its been a CASH COW with little reinvestment in facilities to keep pace
wew....... can't they all leave at once

While AG is the WOAT...the problem is clearly much deeper. We have a bunch of ******* amateurs running **** in Coral Gables. I really need to apply for a big name job at UM. Maybe dean of the school of medicine. I will highlight in my CV that I watched Grays Anatomy

dont get it twisted, Blake knows what this looks like when its right, I always saw Blake at the tents in the OB during the Butch days having a good ole time while we bytchslapped people on the field..

He's a fine AD if the head coach is a boss and calling all shots. Then Blake has no power and he's just selling tickets. Our problem is our HC a yes man at best con man at worst and in either case doesn't know his ******* trade in either case.

If you expect Blake to man up, you've got the wrong man.

I know we're all upset about the state of the progrum....but please don't smear the reputation of any soul, even your wife, by comparing them to flake. No one deserves that, man.

All that crap to say "He's a ticket specialist."
In a nutshell YES.

Blake was hired because Admin did NOT want to hire a real AD from the OUTSIDE when NCAA was doing their snooping around here and Admin did not want to put out our Laundry to an outsider new AD. Truth is Admin really did NOT hire anyone at that position; they just Vanderbilt the AD gig without saying so.

Mf'er gone have a hard time selling tickets if he bring back Folden. Matter of fact a hard tim giving them away.
