Has anyone heard from Mario since Saturday?

I think they come on for the Monday after the game but not the Monday after that but it’s been a good while since I listened so I think he was supposed to be on.

In all fairness, we only have one bye week for the entire 2022 season. In the past, we used to have more bye weeks, and coaches would use the extra time to work on other tasks, such as recruiting and film study.

Seriously, what are the alternatives, given that certain people whined about Manny's record during bye weeks? "Oh, but Manny did all his radio call-in shows during bye weeks!". Really?

We have a fairly decent fanbase, but the miserable mopers are just horrible.

Mario has left town.

However,

In his place there is this new mystery masked man from parts unknown and weight unknown

Goes by the name....

I get that it's about the accountability. I'm just saying I don't care to hear from him.

Of course for some, it's an opportunity to complain.
Exactly. Nothing more than an opportunity to bytch and complain and nit pick his every word after 4 games. No need to hear from Mario about MTSU. It’s all been said. Move on to UNC.

Totally agree. Nobody has that right , It’s part of the job. It’s not a good look with what he preaches about accountability. I’m just saying he won’t get called on it because of who he is.
And because who he's friends with. I mean, isn't he married to a BOT or admin official's sister or something like that?

The only way Mario ever gets in any type of serious hot water anytime soon is if massive changes in the BOT and administration happen and all his buddies are suddenly out of the picture. Until then, not only is his contract too daunting but he's backed by people who aren't going to question him.

This is the University of Mario now and not the University of Miami.

Turn the page. Time to win the next 8 games. I don't know if we'll do it, but that's what I care about now, not hate-re-watching the MTSU game to come up with sick burns to give to Mario when Joe Rose opens up the phone lines.

Personally I don’t care what he has to say. I just want actions after that game. I get their point about accountability as a principle of consistency or whatever… i just don’t care.

And yes, I know they just want to rip him regardless and it’s not resolving anything but a loss like this is inexcusable and I don’t blame anyone for burning the thing down as they are right now.

Not sure what we want to hear him say. The product on the field speaks volumes. Idk - maybe I'm just over listening to coach speak after we get our sht pushed in, by a team we should've beat by 30+
I agree there’s nothing he can say that makes Saturday any easier to swallow. It’s more of an optics thing. The whole mantra this offseason is the U is back to work, toughness, culture, etc. now at the first sign of trouble Mario goes radio silent. You can’t preach that at every turn and then shut down when adversity hits.

I find it deliciously ironic that when coaches like Golden and Manny went parading around the local media blaming themselves for losses, lack of preparation, etc. (which is the very definition of accountability) they were met with throngs of vitriol by the entire fanbase.

Mario doesn't have to answer to anyone except himself and the program. The guy has a massive rebuild ahead of him and a horrendous culture within the locker room. I don't understand how a worthless radio appearance with Joe tossing him softballs anyways is going to change any of that.
It doesn’t and personally I. Hold care less what he has to say but I think it’s the principle of preaching accountability and such and then no-showing that’s bothering a good amount of them. There are some who just want to bîtch about what he says but I think there are 2 groups within the camp that I’m seeing.

"Burning the thing down" leaves us homeless.

Mario's non-appearance on Joe Rose is being distorted and exaggerated just as much as TVD's harmless comments about enjoying road wins were distorted and exaggerated last week.

It's just silly. We've seen Mario tolerate stupid media questions for months. And nothing could have been harder to handle than making comments IMMEDIATELY after the MTSU game, in the depths of the emotions that he felt at that time.

But, yeah, Mario was "afraid" to call into a radio show 48 hours later. He can't handle it. He's a hypocrite.

Ridiculous.

I'd rather he spend every waking minute screaming at TVD about those interceptions or the DBs about those blown coverages. Not because screaming is so wonderful, but so that those half-dozen players NEVER FORGET what they did wrong, and never let down their guard against repeating those mistakes.

But, yeah, the mopers are going to turn some radio non-appearance into character assassination.

What’s he going to say?

“The loss was on me…inexcusable.”
“We have to get better.”
“We’re working with TVD, he needs reps with the receivers.”
“injuries hurt us a lot.”
“We didn’t scheme well on D for MTSU.”
“Bye week will give us a chance to reassess some things and prep for a solid UNC team and the rest of the ACC schedule.”
“Go Canes.”
That is basically what he said after the game. He took the blame. I will say he is working OT with coaches and recruiting after the **** show last game.

Also a good point

I can see both sides of this

Like wtf is he actually going to say that we don’t already know. I said the same thing when people complained about what Tyriq

It’s like we got whooped by MTSU…what else is there to say

If I’m Mario I think my message to the team would be pretty simple

The UNC game will tell me who will be playing the rest of the season and who will not be here next year

If a player isn’t embarrassed by that game and doesn’t take it personally to step up, then he won’t be part of the future

Screaming at TVD will not improve his performance.
Film study will.
The relationship between QB & HC is of the utmost importance..

No, you are EXAGGERATING the "radio silence". You are manufacturing it into some avoidance of responsibility.

His first, second, and third responsibilities, **** ALL of his responsibilities, are to the school and the players. Not to Joe Motherfvcking Rose.

"Shut down". Outside of one call-in show, has he "failed" to make any other media appearances or responsbilities? You have no idea, and more importantly, you don't even care. You're still going to judge him as "shutting down", even if you have no idea of whether he is shutting down.

There's a long history of coaches limiting their commentary and availability prior to big games, and right now it doesn't get any bigger than North Carolina. But instead, the Mope Patrol wants to turn the PERCEPTION of one radio non-call-in into something that it is not.

Can you tell us about the Zoom call with Barry Jackson and Susan Miller Degnan and Dave Hyde that Mario skipped out on? No.

It's so painfully obvious that this "Joe Rose dis" is all about time management and focus, and has NOTHING to do with "fear of accountability". But leave it to our mopiest fringe to turn it into something completely distorted.

Yeah, and you understand that my "screaming" comment was a metaphor.

Film study, sure. Asking TVD about WTF was going through his head on those two picks, absolutely.

But we ALSO need for TVD to have a voice inside of his head that keeps him from ******* up like that again. I don't care if that voice is Mario's or Morgan Freeman's, just as long as he has SOMETHING that reminds him not to throw weak interceptions ever again.
