Hartley rumored to be going to UGA and Coley to be the OC. Eddie Gran now a candidate. S.Florida takeover

Gran and Coley were top notch bagmen back in the day. I think Gran is a decent OC - really good recruiter and a so-so QBC.

Serious money I heard. Big multi year contract. All went down today.

First gut feeling in James Coley could be QB/OC and a very respected name could be Todd Hartley at TE Coach...

One source just told me that...

Very respectable and Todd Hartley do not gel

These short-sighted recruiting-obsessed moves are really funny. Then, 2 years later with a bunch of 'spose-to-be superstars, people complain they don't look as good and "why can't we beat X team" when we land on close to equal playing field. Modern football has shown us it's a clear blend of Xs and Os and Jimmies and Joes and yet people seemingly still want to focus almost entirely on the players.
How anyone who has watched Miami football for the last 15 years can say "coaching doesn't matter" is beyond me. How many NFL players would Al Golden need to have to win 10 games?

Who cares what the **** Georgia is doing. If thebstaff Manny puts together can’t out perform and out recruit James Coley and Hartley then Diaz will be fired in 3-4 years.

They landed the most 5 stars ever without Hartley . Not sure why we should be worried about him going there . Dude can’t coach
He can’t coach ST. TEs were fine.

I think the worry is that we don’t have many good recruiters, and he was a good recruiter.

I’ve posted same thing 100 over and over again. I don’t get what’s with these people.

Hartley took over arguably what was already our best position during the Golden era - tight ends. Njoku and Herndon were both already being groomed to be next up after Walford before Hartley ever arrived. The one thing Coley did was use Larry Scott's tight ends to the maximum! The tight ends are the reason we shouldve beat Jameis and Dalvin that year in Hard Rock. Unfortunately we never got to see Hartley develop Irvin, Jordan etc, but in my opinion Hartley is an above average position coach AT BEST!

Once the buzz from the program left he swung and missed just like the rest of him. His tenure as special teams coach was atrocious. If we didn't get a touchback, a return seemingly was always one missed block from going a long way. He couldn't find a way to make one punter average in two years? They eventually went to rugby style punting after a year and a half of fail from Feagles. I don't know how you can say anything about how good of a TE coach he is. The TEs caught bubble screens primarily and weren't particularly good blockers. He's part of an offensive staff that produced one of the worst Power 5 offenses in football and his coordination of special teams was terrible. He didn't have to go but there is no compelling argument to keep him when his biggest accomplishment was snagging two TEs.

Hartley didn't assign Himself as ST coach, Richt did.

Hartley didn't call those bubble screens, Richt did.

Your litany of complaints fall at the feet of Richt, not Hartley.
