As a coach I love his recruiting and his passion. But we nearly lost this game because of him.

1. Blocked punt on a play where defense was not trying to block. The little things man. Clean it up.

2. He calls a punt block on 4th and 2? Dumb dumb call in that situation.

3. Two #4 in the field. That is squarely on the coach. Fortunately it was not 4th and less then 5. Had it been that would be two first downs handed to Virgina on same drive.

Stupid things like that and you don't win against Clemson, period. Clean it up man.

I'm not a fan of Hartley - but the head coach probably signs off on the punt block calls.

Our kickoff return game is awful, and Hartley can't help Feagles at all.

Love his fire in the locker room vids but, special teams are anything but special!

So it’s his fault that Herndon threw a lackluster block?

I'm as critical of coaching as any, but at some point SOME blame needs to be deflected to the player. McCloud had his head planted firmly up his *** on the running into kicker penalty and terrible/lazy effort on punt block by Herndon.

In the end (I agree) it's coaching but that was just a bad effort by our players.

So it’s his fault that Herndon threw a lackluster block?

It's his unit, no?

I remember when we used to play the , "it's the players not the coaches" card.

There are other aspects of our special teams that worry me about Hartley.

Definitely some blame falls on the players but he is coaching them and if it were just one play I don't think you'd hear so many complaints but special teams has been a liability the majority of the season and there were many mistakes today that could have cost us the game. Hope they can get things fixed up on ST's but I have my doubts given it's 10 games into the season.

It’s Mark Richt’s fault that Malik threw two picks...he obviously made the decisions. That’s same thing you just said.

On the special teams part, most of our woes is our depth....it’s atrocious. Yea we’re talented but special teams are usually 3rd team guys and I don’t know if you’ve noticed but this roster is very top heavy with a couple of significant injuries.

There is nothing wrong with punt formation or scheme. Clearly the block was because of lack of focus and letting a guy waltz in.

Depth is an issue for sure. But that had nothing to do with 3 plays I called out. Those were mental/poor decision/poor game management.

2/3 of them were because of lack of focus and were on the players....other than the two #4 which btw is his assistant’s fault because he’s the one who does the sub, Hartley calls the play, is all the fault of the player.

McCloud should have never been put in that position. Play was screwed from the beginning because of a poor tactical call.

Feagles has been a liability all year and has not progressed. That's on Hartley.

I 100% agree with the lack of focus comment...Herndon seemed to be thinking about something other than the task at hand and once he realized his mistake it became an...Oh Sheet!...moment.

This I'll give a pass to because they're not used to this.

#8 has been back there almost every snap the last two seasons.

Nope. That was just unexcusable from McCloud.

That's not on the coach
