Just listened to Guidry's presser. I do appreciate the insight he gives even if the product is not up to par but some highlights:

He did say they got word from FSU that the long QB sneak was supposed to a freeze, they were only trying to draw us offsides and center snapped the ball on accident. nobody but Mesidor shot the gap, Mesidor has him wrapped up but was starting to slip and his OL pulled him forward.

Explanation is what it is but I still think the DL should be coached to just go on ball in those scenarios, why did no one else move? But I did like that Guidry was more critical about the 3rd and 10 we gave up earlier in the drive that led to the QB scramble. But for that we hold them to 50 yards of offense in the first half.

Other highlights from his presser:

Quan he said tweaked his hamstring in the game which slowed him up, he then corrected and said it was a cramp but that is why Harris played so much,

Thought tackling was better on everyone but the QB. Admitted couldnt tackle the QB.

Ryan Mack got hurt and has been out, just cleared a few weeks ago and is back on scout team and 1v1.

Robby Washington is starting to flash in practice, Markeith is being cross trained at corner RN. Cant take Meesh off the field because he does all the checks for the defense.

OJ has a bright future, kid comes from an old school family, takes coaching very well, and is growing each week. Moment is never too big and he never blinks.

Also spoke about the one TD pass they had at the end, said it was a failed switch or roll. Motion guy comes and DPJ was going on the blitz, Guidry was trying to get Meesh to blitz and put DPJ in coverage. That is why Hill was trying to roll coverage but they didnt hear/get it done in time so they scored pretty easily.

The last part perhaps highlighted why we have so much trouble with motion. With Hill, OJ and Meesh starting last game, that is 3 secondary players completely new to this defense this year, then toss is first year starters in Richards and Harris it makes sense. Yes we need more athletes there but the communication could likely use a big boost as well. Lots of newness back there.

Quan got mauled on their first TD. He looked totally out matched there. Needs to get stronger in offseason.
I saw that

Turns out our backups are usually backups for a reason despite our protests

The whole QB sneak thing wouldn’t bother me normally if our D hadn’t been prone to boneheaded plays all year. Flukes happen but with this defense stuff like this isn’t really a fluke anymore

I mean it’s a broken play

1) half of fsu wasn’t even moving because he wasn’t supposed to snap it

2) it probably should have been called dead in the scrum so most ppl stopped

First string Defense played fine

Yeah I’m fine with it. It was ***.

But I don’t think the game told us much if anything about our defense

Sort of a lose lose I guess. They’re that bad.

But a good game for confidence regardless

Dawson was also good with tidbits in his presser.

Said he thought we did decent (but said it in a negative light) at WR getting separation, could have been better, FSU has a good not great secondary, missed some shot plays we normally hit.

Talked about the sacks on the second series, first one he said Cam checked out of the playcall and that changed the protection and made fletcher switch sides. Once he switched he missed his ID point because the play switched so he said that one was a communication issue between OL and RB.

Second sack, said they knew FSU would come to mug us up on third downs. They schemed up a play he said could have hit for a big gainer but they did a good job hugging him. I went back and he was right, the WR's are clearing out an area and Martinez was leaking out. If he catches that its a big play. Now why Cici touched no one when a guy ran by him on the inside and outside was likely just the bust, brain lapse moment, but with the play call I think it was meant to allow a free rusher but they held up our main target.

Also confirmed what we thought. Said their safeties are normally aggressive and close to the LOS but they hung back more than they have all year. Still thought they could have hit a few big plays, threw it 36 times, said 2-3 drives we started back in our own territory and said he realizes FSU isnt putting up points so he didnt want to give them something easy.

I did catch some of the Dawson ones

I’m a fan of both coordinators with their ups and downs and have been from the beginning. They give a lot of insights on those PCs

We have to have set the record for most yards by fluke plays against us this year. Eventually it no longer becomes a fluke. It’s just our defense allowing stupid plays to go for huge gains

Did he say anything about the fourth down play where their qb missed a wide open receiver? Hill was covering two guys, qb threw it to covered guy. Would have been 45 yard td.
That was blown coverage but plays like that aren’t designed to have multiple reads. Especially with a true freshman quarterback. That play was designed to go to the guy who was covered. A veteran quarterback might have picked up on that but it’s not uncommon for plays like that to be one read, one receiver routes.

Yeah that play in particular was just more annoying than anything. Still, “luck” is usually putting yourself in good positions a lot or bad ones

NEGATORY Negatron.

Backups are backups because of agendas and corches playing favorites.

Plain as day to CIS analysts.

C'mon now.

Please tell me "the word they got from FSU" is parody.

Some sick joke.

At least they’re getting more reps. Those communications breakdowns and bad form tackling should start to disappear if we’re coaching them up right.
