For a fleeting second I thought it might be possible, but then I remembered that James and Frenk wouldn't want to damage their woke cred.

The only way I can see this happening is that Diaz gets fired and James is held accountable for hiring him, we have an interim HC through the end of the season and appoint Highsmith as AD. Since a lot of the fake outrage is over the supposedly racist stuff, if Highsmith says Grudens emails don't bother him in the least, then he can sidestep the criticism.

I don't think Gruden is going to have a TV gig for a long time (he'll be radioactive for the TV networks) and sitting at home won't rebuild his rep. Only thing that will clear the air is to get back to coaching and show he's a different guy. Oh, and he has expressed his admiration for UM. You want your NFL HC? Well one of the best might have dropped in our laps. Does the school have the vision and balls to make a boss move? I dont even live in Florida and I'd buy season tickets.
