Phillips flashed when he was on the field at ucla. Dude athletic as ****If Jaelon Phillips is anywhere near the level of GR15 or anywhere near the level of the amount of hype he had out of HS..good god this could be the best DE rotation we have had since the 2001-2002 seasons in 2020. Stroud can't F up this type of talent that he has in the DE room can he? LOL. Its almost impossible! And we have 3 more freaks at DE coming in this class! (Height, QWilliams, CWilliams)
He will be first team All American, but probably wont make the all ACC team. This conference hates us.Forget All ACC this dude is having an All American season. Indisputable.
“It’s just becoming his time, you know?” Diaz said. “He missed basically all of last year with injury … Coming to Miami and being able to hone in as a defensive end (after playing TE/S in high school) - he had a great spring, had to battle through a little back issue but we had a role for him, he had a sack in the opening game against Florida. It’s crazy to think he’s a redshirt freshman.
“You won’t find a better guy than Greg Rousseau. And absolutely lives and dies for the Miami Hurricanes and wants to do everything he can to help us win.”
He’s second in college football in sacks, and Diaz says what makes him a special pass rusher is “he’s a long levered guy - he’s got extraordinary athleticism so he can bend. He does have long arms … he can get his hands on you before you can get your hands on him and use his length. His stride, he covers so much ground. A lot of his sacks come from being simply relentless, which is effort. He had another one this past game where he has a good rush going, he reaches out, dives, swipes at an ankle and gets a sack. I bet four or five (of the 12) are just sheer effort. (Effort) is the secret sauce that makes him a special player.”
Should've been named CFB DLman of the Month after that Blitzkrieg....
hes gonna give chase young a run for his money when this season is over
The scary part is this kid has played less than 20 games at defensive end in his life. He didn’t start playing the position until his SR year in high school after Manny told him he should try playing DE. Before making the switch he played wide receiver and safety.
Once he really learns the proper technique and how to use his hands he will be unstoppable. What he has right now is crazy athleticism, freakish size and length and a motor that is out of this world. When he adds the technique and a few moves to his God given gifts, we could be looking at a future #1 overall draft pick.
