Great Read On Al's Horrible Sofla Recruiting

Ahh wuddayaknow...

The **** that I've been saying on here for the past couple years has now been echoed publicly by fellow local high school coaches and everybody wants to listen. SMH

Now that we freakin' suck on the field there's less Goldenites running around that are willing to fight this point to the death. I've gotten into huge arguments/debates on this board about several issues that this staff presented from day one and now they're coming to the light.

1. Ignoring local studs who produce in South Florida in favor of less heralded kids from out of area.
2. Schemes not being tailored to South Florida athletes. (i.e. power offense and 3-4 two-gap defense)
3. Not recruiting kids who have offers from top tier programs who would kick Miami's ***. (or have)

***** facilities and home crowds. Does it help? Sure, but if you handle our issues with RECRUITING and SCHEME the kids will come.

Run an offense/defense that local kids can come and thrive in. You got allllllll these talented WR's in your backyard. If you ain't putting four of them on the field every down then you're cheating yourself. And I said yearrrrrs ago that Miami would have trouble finding D-linemen from South Florida who are willing (or able) to play a read-and-react 3-4 defense.

For example: I have nothing against Berrios but you don't think you're offending local coaches/prospects when you fly to Carolina to sign a slot WR when you have a plethora of small jitterbug WR's down here with even more explosiveness and ability?

There's prospects down here who have offers from programs that are held in much higher regard than Miami yet we're not even recruiting them. That makes some of us local high school guys scratch our heads and it causes some of the kids to resent Miami. Imagine being a kid that grew up liking Miami but they're not recruiting you, meanwhile Oklahoma, Ole Miss, TCU, Texas A&M, South Carolina, UCLA, LSU, etc... are all recruiting you. It's like a slap in the face.

Golden is scared. he is like a boxer who can't let his hands go. If he coaches like he did in the first half against FSU every game. he wins and we get top kids. he has show flashes, the UF game last year, FSU 1st half, then he gets scared.

Nearly everyone played FSU close for a half.

Golden isn't some coaching genius too scared to let it rip, he's a dunce.

We didn't do anything different than anyone else against FSU... We threw just as much, ran just as much and called the same plays... FSU just adjusted... FSU addressed the middle of the field and stopped putting a DE on Walford... If we'll go undefeated if we played like that then what would UF have done or better yet Oregon? You are right man.

No we don't. Scarlett would still be gone and we would've played the dexter situation the same way. Calloway goes to his dream school and we still offer fenton too late. The only added bonus would've been maybe keeping an OOS kid like chatman. That's it.

I just think it's funny how folks were in love with the white messiah and were blatantly racist towards one of their own, but then as soon as said coach is proven to be a terrible coach(although numerous folks had said that he was terrible) folks turn on him and now want him gone.

I can't be mad golden has the power, fire him and pay him millions to coach somewhere else. He doesn't care he can just blame the cloud and sorry fan base/lack of support for athletics.

i am talking about in general. u win 10 games a year, u are getting top kids. Also, its clear golden was trying to use this year as the year to make up for the 9 sanctioned schollys. we did it almost in one shot.

Strong has also said an offensive change is coming. While the Longhorns have a new receivers coach in Jay Norvell and are looking for a new tight ends coach, Strong says Texas is going to open its offense and go more to a spread look, partly because of what Texas high schools are doing.

“If you look at this state, the coaches in this state do a great job. It’s all spread, they open it up,” Strong said. “We’re going to have to open it up some and make sure you look at (our quarterbacks), those are guys that can beat your with their feet, as well as their arm. Even though you may have that dimension with your quarterbacks, you’re still going to have to get some skill.

“That’s what we have to do, make sure we surround them with skill players where you can throw it outside and see if someone can beat someone one on one. You can throw a bubble, make a guy miss and take it a few more yards. It’s not just the quarterback position, but the skill around him.”

“These kids want to win,” Central coach Roland Smith said.

That's all you need to read right there. We had a ton of NFL caliber players on our team last year and had a losing season. Doesn't matter the facilities, attendance, stadium. WE DID NOT WIN.

There will always be a certain number of kids who want to play here because it's home, their families are here, the weather, SoBe. But then there are those who would love to but are winners and WILL NOT come and play for a loser.

All the excuses in the world does not make up for losing. You want winners? THEN WIN WHEN YOU HAVE THE TALENT TO WIN.

There are some great point in the first thread of this topic...Times are changing kids don't know the history...For example young black kids don't think its such a big deal to have a black president...they don't know the history..they are the microwave generation they want it now... what have you done for me lately...This is now a problem for Al but it will continue to a problem regardless who the coach is...

Not if they win.

We have no modern accomplishments to point to because Golden sucks.

Top 2 highest school going to the combine

6 wins lol

Alabama, Florida, FSU and Louisville had more combine invites

We always had invites... We had a bad much when the 2011 crew left early and they were all among the top 10 performers at the combine... We had a bunch of invites in 2010 and they were all among the top performers then as well... Al isn't doing anything out of the ordinary. If we continue to have 6 win seasons then we will lose out on the combine invites as well.

To clarify, (since mutliple people have asked me about this) obviously if we out and go 9-3 (maybe 10-3 with a bowl win) it's a different story. I'm referring just to the fsu game. The quoted post is talking about the fsu game. And every team in the country played FSU close then we watched them fold in the playoffs. UF also went 4-8 that year. Golden still can't beat teams that finish ranked. Winning the fsu game doesn't win games against USCe, pitt and virgnia. 7-6 and 6-7 isn't the difference between a top 15 class and a top 30 class (which we will have once chatman decommits). We would've had some momentum.

But people quickly forget that we went 9-3 and Reilly Gibbons, Travonte Valentine, and Brandon Powell decommitted from Miami. Who did we land after the best season completed in Al Golden's tenure? Tyler Grimsley and Joe Brown. This recruiting cycle did not have the tremendous depth that 2014 did in south Florida. And it was not ranked as high near the beginning of the season nor the end as the 2014 cycle.

So, we've finally reached the point with Golden where we ask "what in the **** is he doing with his time?"

We reached that point with Coker and Shannon and its about time we got there with Golden. Recruiting results have been abysmal.

Good post.

It hurts to see quotes like this because it shows how other coaches are paying attention to what's going on around them and at least trying to adjust and move forward. Charlie Strong is far from a tactical genius but at least he has the wisdom to keep himself informed on current trends in football. He knows the Texas offense was abysmal and is open to reinventing it. Grohlden seems like a brilliant guy based on his ability to spout eloquent BS to the media, but he's stuck in 1998 with his coaching ideas and continues to delude himself that it's working, thus the agonizing stubbornness and inertia.
