He avoided paralysis, but won't play football again. What's next for UM's Malek Young?

True cane! gonna miss him on the field i think he would have had a huge year this season really amazing to see the support the program has shown this kid even though its kinda corny Richt isnt lieing when he tweets #Ufamily

Young, 20, who graduated from Coconut Creek High, is now pain-free, still on full scholarship and will earn his degree in his new major sociology, with a minor in sports administration, within two years. His grade point average is 3.1, he said, 3.6 when he graduated from high school.

“We’ve heard stories where kids were hurt and their scholarships were taken away,’’ said his mother, Terry, a file clerk for a car dealership. “But UM and Coach Mark Richt have allowed him to continue his education on scholarship. That’s extraordinary.’’

Glad to read The U left Malek on scholarship.
 
He probably couldve gone medical hardship, but UM made that unneccessary.

And thats how it should be.

Liked the guy, hard worker; and glad to see hes getting on with his life.

Some guys cant or wont.

Shame that things like this seem to happen to the players we deserve it least.
