Exactly. Kool came across like recruiting was beneath him. He had the ultimate "coaching elitist" mentality, thinking D-Line recruits would just commit to Miami because of him being on the staff.

I believe this is it exactly. Like he was thinking “why wouldn’t they come to Miami just because of me”. Guess what? It takes a little bit more than that

Agreed. Most importantly the article on caneswatch said he missed molding young people and that the NFL is all business. I think his tenure in the NFL made him realize on what level he wants to coach. Miami was a "no brainer" for him with his long time relationship with Searels and past relationship with Richt.

Richt was very smart in hiring this Georgia legend. Like Florida, Georgia has so many quality recruits. They can't all go to Georgia even if they wanted to. With recruiting in both states, we should have top 5 classes from here on out.
 
The more i read about this guy the more i like this hire.....outside the box and maybe a bit risky on the surface but HUGE upside.

Hopefully he can excel and keep this Dline moving forward. And if he does, hopefully we can hold on to him for a bit if the big dogs come calling.
 
I think he will end up being so much better than Kool. Kool good Dline coach but has no personal skills and had the im the smartest guy in the room attitude when in reality he is just a good Dline coach. It doesn’t take a genius to coach D line. Pinkel was a pretty **** good football coach and he never elevated Kool which should tell you everything. Odom was hired from Memphis and then elevated to HC after Pinkel. Odom immediately let Kool go.

I'm not so sure that Mr. Kuligowski's stint at Bama will be a bed full of roses. Richt pretty much gave him full autonomy to do what the **** he wanted with the DLine. Now he goes to a guy who is a task master, a micro manager and a general pain in the ***. Don't think he and Saban are going to mesh well.

Plus, Kul was used to the Midwest 2-3 star kids who were just happy as **** to be at Mizzou. He's never had to deal much with 5* entitlement, and that's what he'll be up against at Bama.

I'm betting he won't last more than 2 seasons in Tuscaloosa.

Can't really disagree with those points. My point was he won't have to recruit, and can simply focus on coaching the D-line.
 
Not sure how it works at Buford, but I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a little recruiting going on when he was there.

They mutually agreed he would not stay. Odom actually was junior to him. Pinkel elevated Odom to DC, and then when Pinkel resigned, Missouri promoted Odom. Kuligowski was just another bag of donuts at that point at Mizzou.

This is all true. The other main point that D$ alluded to on a podcast, was that schematically it is not a great fit with Saban. Kool is pure get up field 1 gapping. Saban mixes it up a ton and does a lot of 2 gapping. It'll be interesting to see if some issues arise there.

You should've seen Chise's now deleted post about Toolaghostski only being able to recruit a baker's dozen of pierogi to his fat mouth. It was basically a slur against all of Poland.

Got me thinking about an in-law that was married to a guy whose mother was of Polish descent and brought pierogis once. Didn’t look too appealing. Eastern European “cuisine” seems likes it’s mainly based on potatoes and beets and mostly boiling the shlt out of stuff by ugly women with bad dentition wearing head scarves. Not that I want to stereotype a whole section of a continent or anything.

I could be wrong but it does seem to me that Kul's rep was based on pass rushing DE's getting drafted into NFL high. He was in pass happy offensive conference. That means his DE got virtually endless sack opportunities with little to no run duties. While our dline was exciting last year, with probably 3 draft picks this year, was it as good as it should have been? I don't know but sure didn't get off the field except with turnovers(which is wonderful but). Maybe he was not the hot take he seem.

By the way, one of his "boys" was on the run from cops last week and got suspended from Raiders. Had Kul still been here I am sure the heardlines would have been, "player formerly coach by Miami defensive line coach is wanted by police......." Anyway, I hope he stumbles over a rock and falls on Surtain's ankle.

This is a very solid point. I never looked at it from that perspective. Before Missouri moved to the SEC, not only was the big 12 very passhappy, the division that Missouri was in sucked.

The lack of focus on run defense makes the Alabama hire even more questionable. ****, his Twitter handle is "let's meet at the QB." Lol
