Grateful for the Win

True but at the same time if they would've ran it 3 times and got stuffed, You would be saying he took his foot off the gas and should've stayed aggressive. Can't have it both ways bruh
I didn't say run it 3 times. I said run at least once. That's 40 seconds off the clock right there.

Agree. But it is apparent, TVD and Colby Y. Is all we have on offense. Maybe Ladson.
I think they just need to use them better.

Stop using Rooster like a fullback and find ways to get him in space.
Tell TVD to throw to the open guy underneath and not always one guy. 7 yards on first/second down is better than a 20 yard incomplete pass to his favorite target.

They have the potential to do so much more.

They still need to run higher percentage pass plays and teach TVD to take the easy throw when closing out the game.

Maybe they are and TVD doesn’t Throw to his outlets? We can’t see the all field 22 so we don’t know. Rooster was there in a check down multiple times and TVD didn’t take the 4 yard gain. That’s on the QB

One thing I wont criticize Mario/Gattis on is not running the ball. If we are not calling running plays its because we cant. They stayed aggressive and played to win. Didn't work on the second to last drive but secured the win on the last series.
Nope. Look at the stats for game. The only person who didn't run well was Rooster.

Rooster 10c 27 yds avg 2.7
Franklin 4c 24 yds avg 6
Stanley 4c 23 yds avg 5.8
Brown 2c 22 yds avg 11

The most disappointing thing is not running to close out the game. They didn't even need to score or get a 1st down. Just run to use clock and they didn't even do that which made it a game when it didn't need to be.

That requires an explanation at their press conference.

You don't need to see all 22 if you understand what's happening on the field. They aren't running them enough. But TVD does need to take the check down more often and he is overlooking easier passes.

We couldn’t score a second half TD and let them score twice on us? I come back from work to that?

Normally I’d say the Program should be shut down. Instead, the Noles are looking around for the Rented Mule they’re going to beat up on in practice as preparation for what they’re going to do to us.

Grateful for the win. This isn’t a victory that makes me feel as if we’ve turned a corner.
No, but VT sure did…and we helped them.

it’s awful when people say this on here. It’s a senseless comment. Anyone who was around before we became what we became in the 80’s, and still went to games in that heat at the OB when we sucked, doesn’t want you here to begin with.
Hey @C A N E you’re a boring, ****** poster. You neg vote more than you poRst which makes you krill food. You think it’s ok to say shut down the program? You should stop following and leave with the others of your ilk.

Nobody REALLY wants to Shut The Program Down for Christ’s sake. I’m old enough to remember how awful the team was under Fran Curci, when the Herald would celebrate losing by 3 at South Bend (on a missed FG that could have tied the game in 1972) as some sort of Moral Victory. It’s just deeply frustrating to watch a team with a nationally ranked coaching staff continue to fail to close the deal six games into the season.

There’s a number of posters who have posted that which is why others chimed in and I doubt any of them were around during those days. Why would you even say that? You should know what it was like back then to sit there in that heat when we weren’t playing for anything.

I get the rest of it though. It’s very frustrating to watch them not use the players we have to the best they can.

The second half was brutal, but we got a road conference win with all these guys out injured:
WR - Restrepo, Redding, George
RB- Parrish, Chaney, Citizen
OL - Nelson, Clark, Olawusean (+McLaughlin, Rodriguez)
TE - Arroyo
Those are significant injuries at every offensive position group except QB.
Also, Tyrique Stevenson was out.
I'll take an eked out win on the road against any conference opponent.
But yeah, I would have liked fewer penalties and a stronger 4th quarter.

So happy the Canes got the W, but Mario really didn't need to make it so **** close. Ridiculous number of penalties and wtf were they doing on offense when they got the ball back with 7 minutes left ahead by 13. Not one run leaving VT over 6 minutes in the game with all TOs available. They could have effectively ended the game at that point. SMH
mario didn't need to make it so **** close? was he on the field

why start a thread acting grateful if you're just gonna moan like the rest of the board

GD right I'm grateful to stop a 3 game losing streak. What's wrong with pointing out 2 areas that kept the game close when it needn't be?

He was coaching right? At the end of the day, it's his calls right? What do players have to do with the offensive calls on the next to last drive of the game? It's called situational football and Mario F'd that part up today. No one was saying run the ball 3 straight times into the line in that circumstance. Run it once at least though to eat clock.
