He’s intelligent and his interactions with players remind of Lashlee’s style. But the board despises him. Why? I agree he shouldn’t have gotten the job in the first place, but now that he’s here, is his presence really what’s holding the program back from taking the next step? The special teams were very good this year. The strikers were certainly not a weakness. Could he be replaced with a more experienced coach? Of course. But how many stud coaches you think are lining up to come here and coach specialists and 3 kids on defense? We had 1 FG blocked, 0 punts, had 1 kick returned for a TD, punt coverage was excellent all year, his 2 kids are all-Americans (it’s surely their talent that deserves most of that credit, but you still have to keep kids sharp and locked in). I just don’t see the “If we can get rid of Patke, we’ll turn a corner” school of thought. I don’t know the guy personally, maybe he’s pretty sharp and the kids play hard for him.
Throw in Flowe at Mike LBAm I crazy to think if we landed leatherwood, Surtain, and devonta smith that we would have made the playoffs this year? Hypotheticals suck, but we were in the “running” for all three and it just makes you wonder. Would have addressed three of our four biggest weaknesses this year
Yes, you’re crazy. None of them would have stopped unc from running it down our throatsAm I crazy to think if we landed leatherwood, Surtain, and devonta smith that we would have made the playoffs this year? I think a large part of it is last year's special teams. They were an abomination, and not just Baxa. We had multiple fake punts work against that cost us at least 2 (maybe 3) wins, as well as the fumbled punt returns. For me, that was a huge part of it. We had the kickers and the game with multiple blocked kicks this year, but also had some mistakes too. He’s intelligent and his interactions with players remind of Lashlee’s style.
He was too green when he started, **** he might be too green today, but he is far from the issue right now.
He’s just one of the many scapegoats for a faction of CiSers who don’t know where to place their anger.
Borregales first team All-American, Hedley and Phillips second team. Congrats fellas!
Alot of people just look at punt avg but not Net punt.. I know Lou had better than pressley in that category.. but it was close overallBro, Baxa was a legit 50% kicker. To go from that to Jose, a 1st team AA, Lou Groza finalist...I hope Jose kills it in the league for 15 years and makes Millions.
Voters probably respect the tats.

But don't forget, Philips isn't good enough to be first team All ACC.
Trio of Hurricanes Earn AP All-America Honors
Three University of Miami football student-athletes were among those players selected as Associated Press All-Americans, it was announced Monday.miamihurricanes.com
Patke had nothing to do with the Lou HedleyGotta give Patke some credit. He had a hand in convincing these guys to come here at bare minimum.
Get the pitch forks back out then.Patke had nothing to do with the Lou Hedley
Hedley's already said he's returning, wants to get his degree.I know we have Borrgales Brother coming in to kick but who do we have coming in to take Headleys spot. Please tell me he’s better than the couple before HEADLEY.
I didn't understand this. He did well coaching the strikers and help recruited the specialists.Acc media proves its bias again.
going to be tough to move on from Patke with two all American specialists. Not saying he deserves any real credit for it, but optics wise i would think it would be tough.
