Goldens given up on practice

Just curious, but what are the other teams doing? Are they talking off for finals? Or do most of them get a free A like UNC? I want to hold off any judgement on this until I know what the other teams are doing. Especially the teams that will probably playing in the "Christmas Bowls".

The standard is anywhere between 10 and 15 practicies prior to a bowl game. For instance, when Alabama played Texas for the national championship, Saban had 14 practices and a walk through prior to the BCS National Championship Game. The period between the SEC championship game and the National Championship Game was 36 days. Don't believe me then go look it up.

So the question I'd ask is when is our bowl game? From there you work yourself backwards.

The two bowls game we are most mentioned for are on the 26th and 27th. If we're not practicing till at the earliest the 12th there is no way he's getting 15 practices in. Accounting for travel, bowl festivities(best buy shopping spree, field trip to wherever) and off days the team might get 8-10 practices in.

But the rules don't stop him for getting a couple of practices in this upcoming week. Maybe let Rosier run something other than the scout team. Uh, next year's redshirt freshman QB who will likely be the backup QB. Figuring out what position Trayone Gray is gonna play. All the redshirts could use this time. See what we have in these guys. But nah, we were 6-6. We good.

Look, Miami should dismiss Golden. I definitely agree with that. He's been given 4-years and we're no better off than when they fired Randy. That being if they get in 2-full weeks, which is pretty typical for these ***** bowls then that's fine in my opinion. The premise that an extra couple of practices are going to discover a position for Gray or really help Rosier is ludicrous. That will happen during spring ball.

It's exactly that type of psussy mentality that leads to dodge ball games, water balloon fights and home run derbys instead of HIT STICK BUST ****!!!!

Add up all the practices this team has missed since Gorlden came on board and tell me how that has improved the program.

They used a couple of practices in fall camp to figure out Njoku wasn't a LB. The same could be done for Gray. Put him on defense at LB and see if he takes to it. "Really help". Would Rosier benefit from more practice time? Would the entire team benefit from it? If the answer is yes then its negligence, specifically when last year he used the practices as a recruiting tool. Official visits were scheduled around the bowl practices. He had five open practices. Last year at this time the first two practices would've been today and tomorrow. Golden took full advantage last year. I'm not sure how not practicing for two weeks hurts a team exactly. I know it doesn't help a team.

Spending time around recruits right now is fine I guess. They haven't seen through his BS. He doesn't appear all that fond of spending time around the players that know him and appear to have quit on him.

Valid points. Didn't Golden cancel multiple practices on Monday's during the season?

According to other sites, they have done just that

Sam Snead said "practice is putting brains in your muscles." Every single rep matters, especially 2 weeks worth. Your dismissal of that is ludicrous and as wrong a statement I've ever seen on here.

They won't. SPIN THAT.

You take every single minute of practice you can get. Nevermind the fact that we are in desperate need of it as well.

The loser used that as a excuse a few years ago tho didn't he? Which is it is what we want to know

This is the last that the contrarians excusing Folden's abdication of his duties as HC don't address. For years, all we've heard is his the extra 15 practices are essential to moving the program ahead.

Now, I'm hearing guys comparing us to Alabama and letting us know that it's ok for a hapless 6-6 team to only use 12 practices instead of 15.

We know we don't have true leaders on the staff, but if we had true leaders on this team, these guys would put together their own practice like events to keep the comradery.

LULZ. Now it's up to the players to coach themselves according to Folden's apologists. I've heard it all. Would Folden have to give them a portion of his salary to coach the team themselves?

this board is full of morons like PSU cane

the guy probably supports Joe Pedterno also. the little kids should have said no.

lmao please Perryman , Duke and Walford are seeing money signs why in the fck would the have a practice to jeopardize any injury? I would be looking to leave Miami ASAP

Those boys should refuse to play in bowl along w Dorsett and the rest w draft potential. Why try to win for fat Al? The best thing they could do for the program and their younger teammates is a huge FCK YOU to Al Gorlden

Who decided to recruit "coal-shovelers" instead of leaders?

If I were trying to guess Golden's thinking, it would be this: If he doesn't have practices, neither he, his coaches, or his players have to stand in front of cameras and answer questions from the media. There is nothing that anyone could say that'll calm the fans down, while there is a pretty good chance someone would say something that would throw more gas on the "Yo this guy is a real idiot," fire. If he gets fired and cases in on that buy-out? He won't be shedding any tears.

In the meantime he's got his agent out beating the bushes seeing if he can scare up a better job for his client. Maybe he's made it clear to guys like Dorito, Death Row, and Williams that they need to be out looking for new jobs so he doesn't have to fire them. Maybe they're smart enough to see the writing on the wall. That is if (as a surprise to no one) a bigger or better job doesn't present itself to Golden.

Every coach he can turnover is one more excuse he can point to when the season goes down in flames last year. Maybe he figures if he doesn't take a flamethrower to his staff it'll buy him some goodwill with other coaches when he's trying to get the DC job at Rutgers etc.

It makes sense when you consider the giant chub he gets when he talks about how much bigger the guys on defense are getting. You gotta have coal-shovelers when you replace Lambos with steam locomotives like Chickillo.
