Many of things stated here are true with the exception that Al will get fired if we lose tomorrow night. Hindsight considered, Al came into a program with minimal financial and facility support, had little talent, had to rid the program of bad character, and had to settle for guys that were not D-1 caliber (especially at DL) because of the NCAA mess. In retrospect I whole heartedly believe that without the NCAA making an illegal attempt to permanently eliminate the football program at Miami, then we'll be at least 2 years ahead of where we are now.
That said, I'll take back many of my negative comments about Al and D'Nofrio. In fact we all should reserve comment until after the first half at least.
....and if Golden and the staff blew town after the Yahoo story dropped BEFORE the start of his first year, we would of been 5 years behind where we are now....that's if the program would of survived in tact. Glad he stayed, if for nothing else, to get us to where we are now.....which is better than where we were.
You see that in your magic 8 ball? You guys that make these definitive statements with no basis in reality crack me up.
Go through the scenario and add up the disaster that would of been Miami football if he left just before the first game and get back to us.
Yeah, these clowns think any coach worth his weight would have been beating down Shalala's door for a job to coach a program in limbo with
no fan support, average facilities..
This program would have been on life support heading into 2014 had Golden left back in 2011. Anyone that think differently is a blatant idiot.
This is so true ... Golden has completely saved us from the worst 2 coaches in the history of the program and hindering death penalty... Now my judgement begins on the field .. Obviously golden is aces in recruting now he has to complete the on field judgement begins now
