Golden's and Doritos careers on the line tomorrow night

Nobody was saying he would be fired Tuesday if he loses tomorrow. The point was he is squarely under the microscope. If miami holds Louisville to under 21 points and 350 yards al will be in good shape even with a loss. If miami gives up 42 points and over 500 yards again it will start the chain of events leading to him and dorito being canned. If that happens the two of them will never get as other d1 gig (see randy Shannon). I pray that everyone is wrong and dorito and al figured out how to run a defense. My heart says they are finally dialed in.

Thats why i picked us to win 49 to 42 lol totally agree with your comments and hope your right about being dialed in. I wont to eat crow my gut feeling says we will play that same scheme and allow teams to pick us apart.

Let me understand this. We've positively sukked the past three years.

Our defensive scheme gets a train run on it game after game, year after year, and nothing has been done to change it.

So if we get our *** kicked by Louisville, and we lost three or four more games - Golden's job is secure.

Some of you actually believe that?

Because if I were Randy Shannon, I'd see if I didn't have basis for a lawsuit if Golden isn't fired within the same time window, when Golden is producing the exact same results.

If we get handled again like the bowl game and Al will lose the team again like he did after criminole game. If that happens, it will be ugly by the Cincy game and mid season fire might be possible. That would allow hiring of one of our two Cane exNFL HCs without jobs. Hopefully we are undefeated at that time and we have forgotten about all this, but I fear it will not be that way. Kaaya will be a bright star regardless, it is the defense worrying us all.

This season is it for D'onofrio, not Golden. I know its Goldens defense but a new DC can be the influence this D needs to play more aggressively

Corch actually ceded all future lawsuit rights when he sat on his a$$ and collected his buyout monies for 2 years while turning down jobs. It's a cute notion though. I'd actually pay to see him deposed.

No one's job is on the line : on the road, with a Frosh QB who would probably have been reshirted if the first team QB had not blown out his knee and his back up wasnt getting stoned---- support the team and wait to the end of the year to judge Al. Of course if we get smoked I reserve the right to change my mind

They won't get fired if we lose this game, but they will have a lot of trouble recovering from a loss. Make no mistake. This is a monster game for Al. Lose and things will get really ugly really fast.

There's no justifiable excuse for losing to THIS UL team on THIS day. They'll eventually be very good under Petrino, but UM can't lose this one and try to convince the world we have a good team or that we're making acceptable progress.

This. The two corches who got fired before Al both lost the team the season they got fired because they lost games early on in the season (UL 2006 and OSU 2010), and then it became obvious to the players that they were not going to be competitive. And the 2005 and 2009 seasons ended very similarly to the 2013 season--getting worked in a bowl game. This UL team isn't close to as good as the 2006 UL team or the 2010 OSU team, but if we go into a hostile environment against a team that just kicked the **** out of us, and lose in the fourth year when we're supposed to be good, and the team we're playing has all kinds of kinks to work out, nobody is going to believe in what they've been working towards and things are going to get bad.

Barring a complete collapse, Golden will likely return. Now, if the defense struggles anywhere near the way it has the past two seasons, we will be served a sacrificial lamb in Dorito at the end of the year.

Exactly. Unfortunately (or hopefully fortunately) for Al, he went all in with D'Onofrio and this defense. You can't have such astounding failure for two years in a row defensively and expect to be cut any slack this year when you dig in like he did and commit so completely to your historically bad defense. He's either gotta show massive progress this year, or the wheels will come off.

I don't agree with this at all. By mid season we will know if this team is better, the same or worst. It's really hard to tell the first game. Like I don't think USCe is as bad as they looked on Thursday. I think No D is on the hot seat though...for the year. Golden can't spend another year defending him.

Donofrio's job might be on shaky ground but Goldens is not. Luckily the UMArchers of the world are not running the athletic dept. This is the year Golden starts to get judged. He has shown he knows how to build a program now we need to see results on the field.
