Here's what a real list looks like.

Butch Davis
Gary Patterson
Charlie Strong
Bob Stoops
Mark Richt
Dan Mullen
Chud
Lane Kiffin
Tommy Tuberville
Marc Trestman
Greg Schiano

**** NO TO:

Mario
Ed Orgeron
Any coordinator, MAC coach, or "young rising star" AKA the next Al Golden

We need a PROVEN WINNER who can hire a killer staff. No fliers. No taking a chance this time.

If that means spending $$$$ to make sure we get a solid hire, then it's about **** time the University of Miami did something for the fans and community and ponied up.

The ADMIN let this program go to ****.... so now they're gonna have to pay a little bit more to get it back on track

I want to keep an eye on Narduzzi

I feel you on Morris and Herman, but we don't have another 2 seasons for them to mature.

Houston actually has decent talent for the AAC, so we should know fairly quickly how good Herman is. Urban Meyer took a Utah program from 5-6 the year before he arrived to 10-2 and 12-0 in 2 seasons. Houston was 8-5 the past 2 seasons. He really should have them competing for the conference this season ...

Of bigger concern, thanks to Al Foil for the buyout info, is that $2.25MM number. Based on that, pursuing Herman is unlikely.

But with Morris ... If he shows he can do anything with that SMU program in year 1, I'd see if he had any interest in moving from Texas to Florida. You'd think that guy could do some quality things with our offense. And the fact that he's already familiar with recruiting in the ACC is a plus.

Oh, and he's already on record with the following:

During summertime sitdown interviews July 15, Morris said: "People look at me like I've got three eyes when I tell them that I don't want my first (head coaching job) to be my last one. If I do leave, I want everybody to sit here and go, 'man, wow, thanks, we wish you the best, can't blame you' and not look at me and go 'why are you doing it?' That's just me."

But if Fuente dominates that conference, go all in with him. Sign him up before they even finish the year so that he can get the recruiting done right!

If not an HC or OC from a Power 5 program, we should get 1 of the following:

Bryan Harsin (Boise State)

Positive - Already on his 2nd HC job. Was OC at Texas. Runs pro-style offense.
Negative - Admittedly, a tough hire ... He's a Boise native.

Matt Wells (Utah State)

Positive - Has done well continuing what Gary Andersen built. Is 2-0 in bowl games ... Has quality road wins. Experience working with QBs.
Negative - Again, a tough pull. He's a graduate of Utah State. And if he actually happens to be a Mormon, there's no chance he'd take the Miami job.

Justin Fuente (Memphis)

Positive - If he improves on what he did last year, he may be the hottest name in the country. Experience at TCU (administration/location) would be similar to Miami.
Negative - I'm not sure if he's an "innovator". Expectations at TCU and Memphis are not the same as expectations at Miami.

Chad Morris (SMU)

Positive - Already has ties to the ACC from his Clemson OC days. He's taking over a team that was 1-11 last year.
Negative - Does he just prefer being back in Texas? Competing for in-state talent with Texas, TAMU, Baylor, and TCU in the AAC doesn't seem like it would be much fun ...

Tom Hermann (Houston)

Positive - Recent National Title experience with OSU as their OC. Can coach any style offense. Also competing with Texas, TAMU, Baylor, and TCU for in-state talent.
Negative - Houston just opened a new football stadium, and has a renewed commitment to their athletics program.
Justin Fuente is #1 on my list as of right now. Expectations at TCU are pretty high considering how far Patterson has gotten them.

Chad Morris and Herman may be solid options but they will need two or 3 years to see how they do as head coaches. Although Herman's offense in Miami would be fun to watch.
Good stuff here. It would be risky to hire a first year coach but if they do well in that first year I wouldn't mind taking a risk. Morris and Herman have proven to be good coordinators we'll see what they do at the HC levels.

Lol

You're entitled to your opinion, as I am to mine.

But I'm guessing you're an older fan. And you haven't quite accepted that the Miami you know and love is not the Miami most rational folks see today. The program is viewed as a "has been". And you thinking any top flight coach will jump at this job if we just pay them market is a fallacy.

About the only candidate you and I agree on is Lane Kiffin. But I've listened to enough college sports radio over the last month to start buying the theory that he's just a great OC, who's like the cool Uncle in the family. He's great when there is an authority figure around to control things, but if he has to be the authority, there will be issues. But maybe he's matured some over the past few seasons ... Age and humility can aid in that process.

I've got a legit question for you:

Were you one of the guys laughing at Florida for hiring the guy who coached at Utah and Bowling Green, thinking how quickly the "up and comer" from the Mountain West was gonna fail?

Or would you have wondered why Miami would hire some random guy from TCU to coach their team after firing Coker?

I get the aversion to hiring "up and comers", but if guys have proven they can win quality road games, win bowl games, and win their conference, they're already ahead of what Al Golden has done at Temple and Miami.

Odds are, we're getting an up and comer. Or, we're getting Kiffin.

This is a great list.... IF YOU'RE FIU.

This is Miami, aim a little higher.

Mark Stoops will be the next head coach of the Miami Hurricanes.

Not inside info just my opinion.

Stoops is an interesting name. Curious to see how Kentucky does in his third year there.
I think his time at Miami makes him attractive to the powers that be and he now has head coaching experience and seems to be well regarded in terms of how he's managing that Kentucky program. Will definitely be interesting to see if he can do well this season. If he does I would be good with that hire if it were made.

Stoops intrigues me. His attitude and style of play fits Mia.

That's a name I can roll with.

Three terrible coaches in a row. We need FOR SURE the next coach we hire is a winner.

For every "up and comer" that ends up making it, you've got Al Golden.

Al Golden was a cheap "up and comer." NO MORE.

THEY SAY Miami has no money. **** that. Miami has money $$. It's time for them to spend.

Cristobal knows Miami of old, great recruiter, has Head coaching experience and now has "mentored under Saban" to add to his resume. Would be a great hire....

The threat of the media hyping up Golden Part II as a viable candidate is very real

[TWEET]649971287247486976[/TWEET]

Seeing an ESPN writer allude to Tom Herman as a possible candidate for Miami in an article after last night's game was a great sight, but the "he has South Florida recruiting ties, bro" guys are going to prop up dips**** like Cristobal.

Stop right there. Putting aside the throwaway Miami man comment, the words "great recruiter" were the first ones you mentioned for Cristobal. That's exactly why he shouldn't be considered for the job. Recruiting premier talent is essential to compete for championships, but you won't go anywhere as a program with a car salesman who has nothing to offer on the sidelines.

You can look at a guy like Tom Herman and point to countless pieces of evidence that he's one of the brightest, most intriguing young coaches in the business. We're in desperate need of a head coach, not a head recruiter. Hire a winner and the studs will stay home.

I like feldmans work but he's dead wrong here. Some bias here as well because of his time with Cristobal at the U and their collabartion on feldmans book.
