Golden as UConn's HC...maybe

Mora is a lot of things but Golden 2.0? I don’t see it.

Mora is good recruiter and a rah rah guy. He is also good with boosters and fund raising.

This is as good UConn could have hoped for. Will he make them a good program? No. Will he get them to respectability? Maybe just maybe.

Yeah, he’s an enthusiastic, rah-rah kind of guy, but his act wears really thin very quickly. He ****ed off the media who dealt with daily thanks to his phony BS in Atlanta - not to mention fans - and pulled an Al Golden-like act while fawning over the job at his alma mater, Washington.

Got some early jobs off his family name, which probably came too quick and, in the end, hurt him. He was immature and had some Lane Kiffin in him without the goods to back it up. Career trajectory has been a steady decline. Connecticut will sell him off his resume and earlier jobs – good luck.

NOTE: On December 14, 2006, while the Falcons were still statistically alive in their quest for the playoffs, Mora said during a radio interview with former Huskies teammate/roommate Hugh Millen that if it were offered, he would take the head coaching job at the University of Washington (a job that was not open), "even if [the Falcons] were in a playoff run." He additionally said he was "dead serious" about his desire for the Washington job. While Mora later backpedaled and claimed that he was only kidding, team owner Arthur Blank publicly expressed his disapproval of Mora's comments.

Blank fired his *** a few weeks later.

Fired by Seattle Seahawks after his first and only season, finishing 5-11.

Fired one day after UCLA's third consecutive loss to its crosstown rival USC. After going 29–11 through the first 3 seasons, he was 17–19 in the last 3 seasons.

The UCon job is one of the worst jobs in College Football. He will fail there, but $1.5 mil a year ain't bad

Golden probably demanded No D to be on his staff and UConn “**** nah”

Jim Mora is a way better hire and it’s a good for fit for both parties. He will get recruits and transfer that shouldn’t be at UConn just off his resume and name. UConn is a terrible job but they hired above their level. Jim Mora has more wins in his first 2 years at UCLA than Chip has combined during his time.

If you look at contract...it looks with all the increases and extras that it will average about $2 mill a year with possible extra incentives of $200k yearly....
Thats pretty **** great for that place.
Kudos to Mora

He couldn’t shine Pastor Richts shoes on Easter Sunday’s Brunch as a Coach.

I think Richt was a better talent evaluator off his time at UGA, Richts classes at UGA sh*t on Folden’s in every aspect.

Richts classes in Miami struggled towards the end because he was burnt out & left most of the recruiting up to his assistants like Diaz, Brown, Dugans & Hartley etc..

Richts health was understated, the man nearly died before he stepped down here, he legit had a life threatening heart attack & I remember distinctly in the 2018 season noticing that he looked physically drained & very unwell, there were times on the sideline he looked like he was about pass out. He just didn’t have the energy to recruit as hard as he used to do back in his UGA days which is why our classes under him went so bad, but even some of the few players that he did find like Ahmmon Richards, Deejay Dallas, Jeff Thomas, Malek Young & Brevin Jordan were standout players.

The best players Folden ever had was Duke Johnson & Brad Kaaya & Duke would’ve came here if we had a literal mannequin as the HC lol
Perryman was a better player than Kaaya

For UConn good & respectable are synonymous. I remember they played in the Orange bowl with 8 or 9 wins. I think Mora can do that. Play like 2 fcs teams and a couple of low g5 and they should get 7 to 8 wins.

I dunno know...... Recruiting this Northeast Area is a little different as with Recruiting So Florida. You need more of a Talent evaluator/Developer.

The Rah Rah guy just doesn't work up here. They see through the bull****. But If you can develop players and get them into the league (see Schiano) you might have a shot to survive 6-6 every year which is UCONNs ceiling. Sometimes schools need to know who they are. Maybe Every 6-7 years they fall into a season with a bunch of older guys and have a 7-8 win season..... And if that happens sooner than - Mora is gone to his next school

Rutgers See Schiano (leaves for Tampa Bay)
UCONN See Edsall (Maryland)
Temple See Golden (Miami)WTF were we thinking.... ?

Very little football talent in Connecticut, though appears TVD is an exception. Top players in New England aren't going to UConn (see: Penn State, Boston College, Rutgers, Syracuse, etc.) & probably a hard sell for Florida kids at this point. Mora will have to search deep in the portal for scraps & hope the AD dummies down the schedule. If he's real lucky, he'll win 7-8 games by Year 2 and hit the road.
