GOAT RB - Vilma tweet

Interesting notion. I used to do all-time mock drafts with friends for fun. Basically go through drafting a roster, and at the end everyone votes on best pick, but you can't vote for own.

Barry had something unreal like 3300 APY his last year at OSU. Hard to think anyone is getting drafted over that production.
Shame lions didn't build team around him.those stats Barry had are great considering everybody knew who to key off of and defend.

  1. Thanks and I know.
  2. I have three of them :p
My first one was an Xmas present when I was in fifth grade (same style but black). I ended up giving that one to a friend/fellow alum as a surprise because it would actually fit her. Also have a pretty good collection of Starter hats, but lost a TON from when I was a kid.
So **** lucky....

No kidding. Defenses found out is was better to control gaps and contain Barry than it was to go for the big hit in the backfield, because it was trying to wrestle a greased pig on an oil spill.

Barry didn't even need the Cowboys with Larry Allen. He just needed a competent offensive line, lol.

Nah man I just made a point of it. Found them on eBay. Unless you're talking about the friend I gave one to, in which case, you're **** right. She had no idea it was coming.

I've put a lot of thought into giving two away to prominent 'Canes players or fans but haven't figured out who would be best yet. Naturally it would make sense if they fit, so The Rock is out of the question, even though a Medium Starter jacket is basically an XXXL anything else.

Like most positions there isn't one GOAT. More like a collection of RBs, all great, all whom you can legitimately say no one was better than. Others were just as good.

Jim Brown
Gale Sayers
Barry Sanders
Walter Payton
Emmitt Smith
Eric ****erson
Earl Campbell
Marcus Allen
LaDainian Tomlinson
Edgerrin James
.., and likely more i'm forgetting...

I always ask the question. What numbers would Barry have put up had he played for the Cowboys? Yeah, that wouldn’t have been fair.

I don't think he would've had multi 2000 yard seasons, not because he wasn't great, but you also had Troy Aikman and Playmaker, etc.

Certainly would have less negative yards, lol

I think based on the totality of the responses, we might have reached the extremely rare occasion of all of CIS agreeing on something.

If you put Barry on Emmitt's Cowboys teams, he'd put up records that would never be sniffed.

You put Walter being Emmitt line and even Barry wouldnt have touched records.

Barry couldnt pass protect and wasnt really effective out of the backfield running routes like Payton.

I agree.

I guess it comes down to one's definition of a running back.
Of course you have to catch and pick up blitzes.

A big part of it to me is elusiveness.
That's what I mean when I say "pure" running back.
Put a guy on the 50 yard line and have 4 or 5 defenders across the field standing at the 30.
Who has the best chance to get to the endzone?
My money is on Barry.

Barry would just vanish at the 50 and reappear at the 20 on his way to the end zone.

Nah his performance in the 1969 Western "100 Rifles" was much better. He even had a *** scene Raquel Welch the movie.

Jim Brown for the win on and off the field.

Go Canes
That's it.
Close up shop right there.

LT definitely needs to be top 5.. He was the best back in Football for 8 years running which is nearly impossible for a RB

He'd have had more yards than Smith, and Smith put up a lot of yards. I agree, he wouldn't have to carry the load, so he might not have had monster seasons. What he WOULD have had was defenses scared to death, because they wouldn't be able to focus on just stopping him. His average would have been quite a bit higher in Dallas. Fewer negative runs, and holes that a Mack truck could drive through.

In ‘06 LT had 2,300 combined yards (1800 rushing and 500 receiving) and 33 total TD’s (28 rushing, 3 receiving and 2 passing) and luckily he was on my fantasy team and won me quite a bit of money that year
