Fisch is not going to Michigan (that ship has passed already) and they are not hiring a coordinator either- if they had to they will go with Biff and wait. There is some support for him within the michigan brass/boosters.
they could just go foggi for a year until the pool widens again next year after they sort out their ****

Hard to imagine that Michigan would hire ANYONE from within (Poggi) after the mess that has transpired.
I would agree under normal circumstances but they would have to pay a huge suck tax to get any name to go there right now with how much of a mess it is.

I think the support is based on the premise that they go after someone next year after keeping Biff this year. All of the potential suitors have found their homes in a heavy turnover year. The thought then is why mortgage the next 4 years on a someone or a gamble. Better to have the pick of the litter next year and build for the future.

Michigan would be crazy hiring anyone within or someone’s assistant coach/coordinator. They need to hire an adult capable of altering culture.

Whittingham is a little long in the tooth for that job IMO. He'll be 70 before his recruits fully populate that roster. That would be a strange hire and strange for him to want to pursue that job.

Whittingham would be a solid hire. He is better than anyone in that League in my opinion. Give him Michigan's resources and recruiting base and I think he will win a few Conference Championships.

I think that’s what they’re looking for right now after everything that’s happened. A proven great coach to come in, establish a new culture, and be a bridge for the next guy. 3-4 years would do that
