Browns promote six, add one to personnel department

Additionally, the Browns named Glenn Cook, who spent the previous four years in Green Bay’s player personnel department, as their new Assistant Director of Scouting.

Cook joined the Packers in 2012 and held a variety of responsibilities in the Packers’ pro personnel department. An alum and former graduate assistant at the University of Miami, Cook assisted in the evaluation of college and professional players, prepared advance scouting reports of upcoming opponents, conducted tryouts during the season and evaluated pro day/draft prospects during the spring.
“We are fortune to be able to add Glenn to our personnel department,” Brown said. “He is a highly-regarded, bright scout that has been a part of a very successful scouting environment in Green Bay. He will bring a fresh perspective to our group and we are excited to have him on our staff.”

Radio always loved his smarts on the field. Kid just didn't have it athletically. Happy for him that he caught on in the league somewhere.

I remember when he was recruited. He was one of those head scratchers but developed into a serviceable but just adequate LB. He was a teammate of Jon Beason

He was a below average player, Cook knew where he needed to be but could rarely get there in time.

Wasn't he the guy that said lifting weights was unnecessary?

This guy was a coach on the field. Unfortunately, he moved and hit like a coach too.

This is basically how I remember him as well. Also, not sure if my memory is correct on this, but I believe he's the guy that should never take off his shirt in public, isn't he? I do remember some linebacker from that era that I saw a picture of, and being repulsed. Not to bang on the kid, I think that was genetics, but still.

Congrats. Glad to see he's taken advantage of his education and playing experience to make something of himself.

"Serviceable"?

Unless you are talking about what they did to him on the 7th floor, you are crazy.

Good for Cook. Some guys just have to know that playing in the NFL isnt in their future but doesnt mean you cant have a role working for the shield in some aspect.

Happy to see Cook doing well off the field.

But man, he was tough to watch sometimes. Was it him or Romeo Davis that got dragged into the end zone (or near it) by holding on to somebody's hand warmers?

Cook couldn't bench 225 1 single time, even by his senior year. I remember seeing him on campus and thinking if you didn't follow the team, you'd have no idea he even played football

He pretty much summed up the Shannon era of optional weight training. Our 2-year starting LB didn't regularly work out.

And he was an awful football player, don't try to claim he was even "average"

The Georgia Tech debacle. They treated us like we were Cumberland that day.
