Gibbs is arguably the best RB in the NFL. Of course I don't think he's a bust.

The takeaway from my post was intended to be - If Gibbs is god awful in pass pro and he's the best RB in the NFL - then "maybe" RB pass pro isn't actually as important as people say it is.

Lyle's Performance - If anyone wants to remove last year, fine. What you're left with is: Fletcher outplayed Lyle his FR year. Pringle outplayed Lyle in last years spring game. Mallory outplayed Lyle in this years spring game. Hopefully someone on staff is paying attention to this.

Pringle Pass Pro - Pringle was RB1 vs NC St & VT. RB2 vs Pitt. Beck didn't get killed. Beck didn't even get touched. Pringle gave up 0 Sacks & 0 QB Hits is pass pro last year. Just because pass pro isn't his strength doesn't mean he's a liability.

Hopefully you're paying a lil more attention to because the running back is a safety valve In all instances for pass protection. It definitely helps when you have an offensive line than typically was stonewalling most teams. Some teams obviously were far better than others with creative blitz packages. But most didn't sniff beck. Wasn't a running back thing. Far as Jordan goes I've been on the fence with giving up on this kid. In an ideal world lyle is our best all purpose explosive take it to the house on any given play back. Pringle is there also but lacks in categories Jordan doesn't. However Jordan struggles with injuries and vision. He's another one of these kids so far who goes off in practice settings but runs from the lights. Pringle doesn't have that issue. He's all about big plays. Personally I wouldn't put either of them on the field in most situations this season. Fletch, Brown and my opinion mallory all give you exactly what you need. None are speed backs but that's not what we need in this offense.

Pringle is our proven in game most explosive runner, our by far best receiving back, and it’s not like he’s afraid of running inside either. He’s also consistently the one generating the most forced miss tackles. He’s doesn’t need to start or get 50% of snaps. But he is the ideal Lightning to Fletchers Thunder. Brown is solid, that’s it. He was fine to solid last yr and will be again, but he doesn’t have even close to upside of Pringle, but importantly the floor isn’t some massively higher either if we are being honest. Mallory imo 100% jumps him in rotation next season, likely becomes starter. And even in that case Pringle still is the ideal pairing to him.

However Of course like I said last yr and heading into this yr, the difference is Last season we had little to no explosion through the air so it significantly increased the value Pringle brought to the table (and until playoff Fletcher had shown zero ability to generate explosive runs in 3 regular seasons) because explosive plays are the most important plays for an offense. This yr however we are significantly more explosive through the air so a less explosive and more consistently “successful” run game is a good pairing. And I mean success rate on ground in terms of 4+yds on 1st, > half distance to 1st down on 2nd, and converting 1sts on 3rd downs.

BUT Pringle is a high succcess runner as well. Which is kinda the point why he SHOULD be playing much more. It’s not like he’s Cam Harris who either hit for 60 or 3. Pringle is getting the 6-10yd runs at a high rate as well. But that was last season better more experienced Oline. TBD if he maintains this season. But loook what he did as a receiving weapon this game- it works. Look how effective Gibbs/Bijan/Achane/CMC are in receiving game!

Lyle - I agree his vision/processing is a struggle. But when I watch him he's not that quick/shifty/fast/explosive either, which is his main problem. I understand why people would disagree. We'll have to wait until his Pro Day on that one.

IMO the South Florida 91 yd run caused people to believe Lyle is something he's not.

Fletch/Brown/Mallory - I want to see Mallory against a legit opponent first, but I totally understand what you're saying. We can win in a Big 10 grind you down way with just these guys. It's effective, just not as fun to watch.

Pringle - IMO should be #2 after Fletcher. I could be wrong, I'm basing it on a small sample size, but IMO we need to get this guy the ball.
