Get rid of the striker position.....

I think Finley is your LB on obvious passing downs. Get him off the slot guy.

In fact, I hate our entire approach to X and Long situations.

For starters, it's stale, and being exploited. These DB blitzes aren't getting home.

I also think we need to be more creative in getting multiple pass rushing ends loose.

When Stoops was at FSU, he excelled at that.
I think you get quarter man off in passing situations and put Finley at inside backer and put a corner at the striker position that’s also a good run defender in passing situations. Moreover our inside linebackers are getting out flanked at times and become susceptible to the swing pass for big gains. Revisit the Carolina and Florida game to see what I’m saying

I’m not rewatching that game but I remember seeing Romeo covering their slot more than I wanted to see

It’s been a quiet year for DE so far. I feel like I’ve heard Greg R name more than Garvin, Hill and Patchan. Talent level hasn’t dropped, only difference is play caller.

I don't have a big issue with the Striker position. Finley is fine to have there 2-3 downs out of the 4. For the others, put in Gil. I think the coaches realized the striker could be a liability in certain coverages and that's why Gil was moved there.

And btw, Finley has been balling since last season.

Rousseau is playing Like our best dlineman and has our most sacks and tfls on the team with only 23 snaps. Patchan and garvin have 100 plus snaps and don’t have anywhere near the amount of sacks or tfls Rousseau has. Both hill and Rousseau were more productive than garvin and patchan vs unc

We've had our best success just rushing 4...maybe 5 on 3rd downs, but Manny and Blake would rather go 3 man rush or exotic with zone blitzing and we get burnt every time.

That's classic Manny bravado that got him his walking papers from previous jobs....
... in some ways, the opposite of Randy.

Finley was a glorified slot corner last night. Imo he’s being wasted not being at backer and having him cover guys all night

It’s pretty crazy these same guys attacked people behind the LOS like a pack of dogs. Now Baker is asking these same kids to drop back and cover. I think the only time that was beneficial this year was the Patchan pick. I was really bummed with Gurvan’s performance last night as well.

We are too cover 3 heavy. You need a ball hawk at safety for that type of scheme.

We don’t have the rangy lbs that make cover 3 work either.

Cover 2 works well for us but we rarely run it.

If you are gonna spy and rush 3, run man two and press and 3rd and long. It is one of the best pass defenses as long as you contain the qb run.
