Its game 1 everybody here's my take on it....everybody bringing out the negatives, but there were some positive moments...
POSITIVES
* We actually generated a pretty good pass rush..had a few strip sacks

* Not many missed tackles...quite a few tackles for loss

* LBs played decent..Perryman (of course), with Armbrister

*Our secondary is special maybe one or two broken coverages, but overall solid

* Most importantly, our D didn't give up 500 yards and were pretty stout....3 and outs on offense killed us....

*Kaaya looked good for a freshman. He made late mistakes but overall he's goin to be very good

*Duke, Dorsett, and Malcolm Lewis all look faster and healthy..will be big in the long run

NEGATIVES

* Our Veteran O line freakin sucked! No protection too many tackles for loss and dumb *** penalties

* lost red zone opportunities (should let duke just run it)

* too many WR screen passes (Coley catches that low ball, we have all momentum) Kaaya rushed it..plus should have been a penalty on Louiville (13men on field)

All in all I was ok with the defense, but the O Line is what really killed us..better protection better productivity

NO reason to lose to Louisville yesterday. None. Louisville was breaking in a new HC, DC, QB, Play system, Defense, was out many guys from draft/graduation/injury. We had the talent to win. We didn't. That's the bottom line. There was positive play from a few people, I'm not mad at the QB, etc. But the fact remains that we lost and there is no excuse for it. None. Al and company are trash, that's all they've proven. ****ing on the memory of a once great team.

Agree, but I'll add that this loss starts and ends with the offensive play-calling. Everything else was manageable first-game stuff. But Coley's performance as OC was atrocious.

Fair assessment. But the 800 pound tumor that will not change is our coaching staff. Our kids fought hard and I commend them for that. But they are fundamentally unprepared and underdeveloped. Penalties, missed assignments, etc. is a reflection on the coaching staff, not their individual talent. We played like we are coached and against better teams we will continue to lose as long as Golden and co. are in charge.

There were several missed tackles.

agreed but it's an area that is improved and that's all we can ask from where we were last year

It wasn't just the number of missed tackles, but the situations. Some of them would've gotten the defense off the field. Chickillo had Gardner dead to rights on a 3rd down and let him get away for a 1st down. Heurteleu missed a TFL in the red zone (can't remember what the down and distance was or what the outcome of the drive was).

This is Golden's ceiling right here, this is all we'll get from him. It's time to move on.

Louisville had guys wide open all night in the secondary. Don't make the mistake of pumping the D up too much

There was a lot of positives in this game. The problem is the staff doesn't correct any of the issues during preparation week. Even in game adjustments were non existent. The left side of the oline played decent. But even with Te help the right side couldn't stop me. McDermott should have played once Gadbois was getting killed. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the right side was weak. So they blitzed the crap out of that side. Should have played McDermott if he is gonna play this season.

Negatives:

- how do you miss the literally horrific coaching?

Louisville left us in that game, they could've had it put away at the half (and since we didn't score another TD, they technically did). They had a few key drops that would've went for 1st down and one specific one I remember that would've been a TD. Bush chipped the guy after their receiver had already missed the catch, and had time to clench his fists and smack himself in the head for the easy TD he just dropped. Bush was all excited like he did something. Yeah, at his angle he would've whiffed on the play and the guy would've scored had he not dropped/missed the easy catch.

Our D was made to look better than it was. Was there improvement? Some, but not much.

the defense "improvement" line is really really ***cing weak at this point. we had the same fools gold last year.

the UL QB and their WRs (along with the refs) tried their best to keep us in the game. keep in mind that the 2 best players on the UL offense were out for the game. marinate on that.

there is absolutely no doubt that F/A/G is a goner. in reality he shoulda been fired after the bowl game.
