Gerald Willis

I don't see how the same people that suspended AQM an entire season for one fight are bringing in a dude that apparently greets people with an uppercut.

How is that supposed to work? They need to figure out if they're ready for the goons for not.

Bump this fuggin thread up..the corching staff finally got a 5 star DT...in a unbelievable fashion.

It is kind of funny that the favorite recruit at this time is a goon. Man I miss the 80's and 90's when men were men and we were proud to be Canes.

its for 2016...so i'll hold my excitement...and i love the fact that Golden used this transfer as a deflection of the horrid job he did on NSD and the 2015 class.

This kid was at UF all of one semester. He has some major issues. It more of a desperation move than anything. However anything can happen between now and 2016. He can change but for UF to just let him go without any restrictions says a lot. We know he has gotten in altercations with his teammates but we don't know what else occurred behind the scenes. I would have let him go to juco first and redeemed himself.

Yes let's tell the only 5 star DT who has considered the U since you were born to go Juco! Have no issue with this pick up. New Orleans boys have done well at the U...

I'm not buying this. Until this kid is physically on campus, I don't believe this bs for one second.

This goes against anything and everything we know about Al Golden and the Miami admin.

1.) We don't get elite DT's
2.) We only go after "choir boys"
3.) We don't go after elite transfers
4.) We don't get elite DT's
5.) He's a DT, and we don't get good DT's at Miami under Al Golden

Has this been confirmed?? I'm calling BS on this.

He would be with Stan.... They are close and he will be able to mentor him. Stan a goon too but he know how to act. He can teach willis that. At UF willis didn't have anyone there that could relate to where he was from. Now he does...

this kid plays one of the most violent positions in all of sports. You have to be a violent person or have a ***** or two loose to actually want to do what they do. What they do between those white lines is completely unacceptable in our society outside of those white lines.

some people have a hard time turning off that switch. Honestly it has to be really hard to turn that switch on and off. If someone can get to this kid and teach him to channel that energy and anger to only be released on saturdays between those white lines then Miami will have another great DT on their hands.

this is no easy task though. I mean this kid literally cannot turn off the switch or differentiate what is and is not acceptable outside the white lines. He knows he is supposed to hate QB's and he literally hates QB's, even his own teammates....

if he goes in there and does absolutely nothing but puts golden or dorito in his place then he will probably be worth the pick up.

I like him already. Still not buying that we actually signed him though.

Yeah, I'm done listening to that fat ************, you think I actually watched that **** press conference?

Thanks for confirming though. Mind....blown. This is so out of character for Miami, I don't know what to say. Maybe they actually do want to win.

That cat was supposedly a problem at UF. He won't last here either. We get rid of kids with the quickness. He'll never see 2016 imo.

He just has to make it through next season. After that, he will have a fresh start with a new staff. That, and live off campus.

You do realize he was a true freshman at UF right? Dude couldn't make it 4 months in Gainesville but you think he's going to make it over a year here?

I say he doesn't make the end of summer. But maybe being in Miami slows his *** down.

You never know. He's a city kid. From the hood IIRC. Kid like that dropped into a cowtown like Gainesville, alone and left to his own devices as an 18 year old for the first time, would not be the first time a kid like that gets out of hand and goes wild.

He could obviously come to MIami and it will either get 5 times worse, in which case he wont last the summer, or he will fit in better in Miami, maybe with some guys he relates with better, and be able to do his thing, and mature.

Some kids are not cut out for small town College-town life, especially in bumble**** no where, when all there is to do is drink, party, and chase young poon. Being in Miami offers all that x10, but it also could offer a real world type environment for the kid, a place where you "get down to businesses".

Bottom line is, we just don't know. He may well be a head case that wont last anywhere, or he could be one of those city kids that was just a bad fit in a college town, away from home for the first time, and went wild, but can settle down and get it together with some peeps he can relate to, and a new place more his speed.

dude his issues have nothing to do with environment, he has major anger issues.

He stole the cleats from a teammate (why steal shoes you can get for free?), the player confronted him and he proceeds to beat his ***.

During practice he didn't like the way the dline coach was yelling at him, he put his hands on the dline coach. Picture dylan with Wycleff "you too close mon"

then the stuff on the sidelines with jameis winston

he then got into a fight with kelvin taylor in the locker room after practice.

he eventually got kicked off the team and out of school. He and his parents worked out an agreement with school and they allowed him back to class but he would have to work his way back on the team.

He then proceeds to get into another fight, not sure if this was a student or another teammate again. This was the end of his time at uf.

very talented kid and i really hope he figures it out so he can be a productive member of our society, but someone needs to tap into and control those anger issues.

i will be really shocked (and pleasantly surprised) if he lasts the year off at miami....him sitting around with no way to release his anger I can't imagine being a good thing.

Great pickup at a position of great need.
Congrats to Dobard and whomever made this happen!
Will spare more negativity as this is incredible news. As has been noted a DLine of Thomas, AQM, Willis and Moten/Jenkins/whomever may be the best we have had in here since the early 2000's!

This is great news no matter how you slice it.

Yeah that is a pretty good d-line. Holy ****. Too bad we don't have cornerbacks or linebackers.

SIAP:

@mattyports: Mom of transfer DT Gerald Willis told Rivals he would have signed with UM out of high school if not for "problems and the sanctions" UM had.

if he makes it through the first year without incident I think he finally figured it out and has things under control. That year sitting around will be the most difficult time for him...and it will be the time to sit down with a professional to work out these issues. Hopefully miami gets him one.

dude flat out seemed to never fit there though..he was dissing yall recruits b4 he even got on campus....

i remember stan selling people on him and tellinghim how "live" miami was last yer and trying to get him on board.....

might be diff with his boy stan on the team......plus this seems to be a last chance kind of thing dudes sometime shape up.......

So basically....

- He stole cleats from a Gator
- Punched a few Gators in the face
- Punched a Gator coach in the face
- Beat up Gator's legacy Kelvin Taylor
- Got in to it with Jameis Winson on the sidelines

I ******* love this kid! Welcome to the U.
