Watching them, you can still see that they're dealing with the aftereffects of the triple option 5 seasons later. It was an ominous sign.
That’s definitely part of it - inconsistent QB play, few playmakers (losing Gibbs to Alabama was noticeable), a defense that didn’t get off the field on 3rd downs, and a very undisciplined (heavily penalized) team were the others.
Tech fans have much lower expectations than Canes fans…but the results and the lack of positive trajectory did Collins in.
