George Karlaftis Miami legacy is a potential 5 Star recruit?

It’s not as uncommon as you would think.

I have several friends that were good students but whose families, even with scholarships couldn’t afford UM so they had to settle for UFāg, which they attended for basically free, or cheap, but they remained canes through and through and are now season ticket holders, Hurricane Club contributors, and diehards. It’s not uncommon at all.

He looks like a rock solid player. High floor, but I don't know if he's got the extra there to be that 5* player. If you are calling him a 5* player, you are projecting him to be Joey/Nick Bosa...which I don't think he is.

Sigh, why do you say that? is it because he;s an elite athlete who has produced at all the camps, or where he is located? I get it, you're just saying stuff.
 
I like Karlaftis quite a bit, but closing with some combination of Summerall, Williams, Weaver, Harvey and Bogle would be an insane hall. Even 3 of the 5 and we are COOKING on the trail. Harvey is an EE as well, not sure on the others

I've known plenty of people who went to state schools but always stayed Hurricanes fans.

Yes. Purdue is elite in engineering. UM is OK.

I worked as a UPS driver for a while and the ammount of drivers with bachelor’s degrees was pretty eye opening and I’m sure non of them wanted to be a UPS driver. (No dissing on ups’ers it’s a tough job that pays well)
Kid wants to guarantee employment if football doesn’t work out. There is also a lot of business opportunities and networking if you go to a top engineering program. It’s a form of insider trading if you will. Some of the top engineering programs perform research for the government and private corporations and higher the engineers that perform some of the research. If they don’t higher you at least you know what to invest in.

However he should be a fugging cane and wtf is a boilermaker?

I had a friend who graduated Yale Law and he insisted that some people had trouble finding jobs. Maybe they were too weird, I don't know.

Dude, there's no school called Banana Republic, Why not try something that exists...there used to be McDonald's College of Hamburger Knowledge in my old neighborhood. That's more legit a school than Banana Republic which started out as a mailorder catalogue company from northern California. May as well say " I graduated from Sears and Roebuck University."

More than a month after my July 2nd post and the above is your August 5th response?

When the other poster first used this (Banana Republic) term in his initial post, when I next used the same term in my response, and when the other 99.9 % of those who read these posts didn't have your above comments, that's because it was Obvious to and Understood by everyone that of course there is no school called Banana Republic and it was further Obvious to and Understood by everyone .... except apparently you .... that the (Banana Republic) term was being used figuratively and in a generic context to illustrate a point.
 
what are you guys thoughts on turning to this kid. He impressed me all off season...After losing out on Ingraham he appears to be the type they are looking for at DT. SHOULD WE SHAKE THE LEAVES?
 
He wants to be an engineer and stay close to home (probably largely due to the loss of his father and his entire family having to come closer together) and it makes sense. I would put us a distant third at best as he's serious about engineering. Comparing our engineering program to theirs, it's basically akin to them comparing a marine biology (neither has one) program to ours. We would win that battle by a mile while Purdue and Michigan win the engineering one.

We should have been after him but I hope we bring him in on a visit at the least!

If we were Baga, we'd move the whole family to South Miami, get them all jobs, and call it a day.

Major desperation on the recruiting board. We’re bumping (me included) threads of dudes long gone and still talking about dudes like Elam.
People still asking if we think we can flip ingraham with an OV.
