Geo & Ahmmon Canes Recruiting Buzz + Q&A: More Commits on The Way!

I've been expecting to hear some of the DBs we have penciled in as corners are being recruited as safeties.

Wouldn’t be the worst thing. We are deep at corner.

But I agree. Need to recruit the position better no doubt

Of course if Jackson chooses Oregon for a hefty NIL deal, ON3 won't say a word about it.

Safety is concerning to me.

At LB you have some younger guys, and guys that have talent or productivity.

Pruitt
Hayes
Wiley
Bonner

Then you have some older players who have something in Popo and Bobby Washington.

At S what do we have other than Poyser?

Dylan Day?
Chris Ewald?

We need to sign 2 good safeties in this class, and we may have to anty up.

I doubt Ewald plays safety jmo, but I could be wrong.

I think Wallace ends up at safety…A lot of nickle talk and I know the size isn't ideal but his high school tape at safety looks pretty natural back as a centerfielder and from a physicality standpoint.

I agree 100% that safety has suddenly become a concern. One of D.Jackson and Blake Stewart seemed like lock city and a great starting point. But now we look like an underdog for both. I do think there's a chance Portis ends up at safety (or at the least nickle(. What I can't understand is if we are going up to 105 schoolies why Redding has to weight on the guys ahead of him. Just take Redding and Blake Stewart if both want to come, but at least you will have Redding in the fold.

I would have offered T.Hughes a while ago. Will be interesting to see how it unfolds.

How many LB’s should we take in a recruiting class considering that we never play more than 2 at a time?

I don’t see any reason to ever recruit more than 3 in a class and we already have Campbell and Edwards.
Quantity probably isn't our biggest pitfall if we are being honest.

You’re never going to fill all needs for all football positions in a single class - not at an elite level and not with NIL being such a deciding factor.

Best you can do is assess your roster needs and get the best talent that each class offers - no reaches.

That said, given our needs and the talent in the 26 class, we needed to prioritize OL, DL, WR and RB which we appear to be doing. So if LB and S are being deprioritized I am OK with that.

BTW - I was on Bama and UGA boards and they are *****ing about the same thing - positions they feel are being neglected with this class.
