Gentlemen and Scholars, get in here

Alabama losing to a 5-7 fsu should eliminate them. F we aren’t getting the credit we deserve for beating ND early, they shouldn’t get to say the fsu team that whooped their *** was a different team than what played t the end of the year.

We gave the committee an excuse to think if we played ND again they would beat us based on our losses to Ville and SMU

Our offense was a mess

We fixed it

They can no longer say to themselves that week 1 was a fluke

If we played ND this weekend we would beat them again and anyone on the committee that watched us Saturday should agree

The fact we beat them Head to Head is the only thing that matters now that we proved we made changes to the offense if “eye test” is what matters
They're trying to diminish the value of a head to head win based on the week the game was played.

I keep saying this.. in what week would we get full credit for a head to head win? Week 4? Week 8?

They **** sure didn't hesitate to praise Oklahoma's win over Michigan in week 2. So is week 2 where the imaginary line starts?

Right. I’m trying not to get caught up in the pure hypocrisy from all angles and just focusing on Notre Dame in my own brain

If I were honest with myself about being a Miami fan post SMU I could see their point

Not that ND was a juggernaut but we really were starting to come apart at the seams on offense much like the defense last year

The defense continued to get worse and despite wanting in my heart of hearts to see Cam play at least one more time, I agreed we shouldn’t be in the playoffs

We didn’t make massive changes on offense but if they are honest about the eye test, then our philosophy changes have led to clear improvements

In my opinion you can no longer point to their trajectory going up and ours going down so now it HAS to circle back to head to head

Our defense is championship caliber and the offense is now back to trending up with Carson Beck and the most exciting freshman in the entire country

It would be a ******* travesty to pick ND over us

Something I hadn't even considered until now is what the top brass at networks think about all this.

Miami - Notre Dame was a ratings behemoth. So was Texas - OSU.

If head to head results do not matter, schools won't schedule those types of games anymore.

ESPN, Fox Sports and CBS don't want to lose access to those games. Especially not for Notre Dame. Notre Dame's broadcast rights are owned by NBC/Peacock.

So I do wonder if the networks are making a case behind the scenes for Miami to get in over Notre Dame.

Exactly.

If you want to get in the weeds with microanalysis, we are at least even or close enough where nobody is obviously ahead.

Look at the macro, like common opponents, we are ahead.

And with any of these analyses, we’re at least pretty much close. But we always hold the Trump card.

The only argument ND has is they lost to two top teams for a combined 20-3 record. Versus ours of 16-8. That’s it.
So at worst, the head-to-head should cancel that out. It really should hold more weight, but at the absolute least that even things.

Intangibles? What about star power, we both have a big one. And we have the Beck storyline. Top five pick in Bain. Ratings draw, we’re right there.

Then go to common opponents, we win there, right?

And all the metrics like SOS, etc. seem to be close enough.

If what you have here from their website is true, choosing ND over Miami is breaking their own rules. Proving what slimey snakes they really are and eradicating any ounce of integrity they claim to have. Maybe we can also find out if there are legal grounds for a lawsuit. Even if said lawsuit went nowhere. Giving ND a spot over us would be the ultimate participation trophy in the history of CFB. Every coach, player, or fan of anything will find it appalling. Now is that worth losing just to appease the little Leprechauns? I guess we will find out.

I’ve been saying for a while that there are grounds for an antitrust suit against the CFB Playoff, ESPN, and the NCAA.

I want to carve out a space for our best and brightest to make the case for Miami in the CFP. It’s scattered in a million places, let’s put it in one spot.

First, I think we should steelman the ND over Miami argument. In my profession, it’s wise to contemplate the other side’s best position and deal with it head on. Don’t hide the bad stuff. It works against you when your opposition points it out. Hit it first and show why you win anyway. For example, don’t show our common opponent scores and leave Cuse out. It’s there, deal with it.

Then, we need to crystallize our best arguments over ND (and others, I suppose), make it tight, get all our stats/metrics together, and put together quick hitters we and others can blast all over social media. Hold that **** up to the light until it’s blinding.

You might think it’s an exercise in futility, but I disagree. We might as well give it a shot.

There are people inclined to argue in our favor, from us regular folks and local media to country stars and national media. It’s not crazy to think we, as diehards, can put together some of the best arguments which end up getting disseminated on a large stage. Let’s help those who are trying to help us.

We have both the time and ability to influence, that’s the world we live in. And the decision makers can’t help but hear it if the noise is loud enough. We’ve seen it before.

It’s a project worth doing. We should be as good at it as anyone. And why tf not?
I think if Tech wins killing BYU and Bama beats UGA that will have Miami and ND 10-11 on the last ranking and now H2H can flip them but if bama losses they stay at 10 and the committee will be cowards and leave ND in our Miami. Thats my thoughts on how we get in

So this is who lane has taken with him so far

OC: Charlie Weis Jr
DL Coach & Def. Recruiting Coord.: Chris Kiffin
WRs Coach: George McDonald
GM: Billy Glasscock
Sr Assoc. AD for Football Ops: Thaddeus Rivers
Str & Conditioning Coach: Nick Savage

The committee factors in players AND coaches that may affect a teams postseason performance. Seems like a lot to be missing to not affect their ranking.
