Why do people care about the exact reason why a recruit attends or doesn't attend Miami?

If he comes because he would come regardless of the coach.

If he comes because of the music program.

If he comes because he loves a coach or the HC.

If a recruit refuses to play at Miami.

If a recruit gets paid to go somewhere else.

If a kid and his brother are a package deal.

What is the difference? You either get the kid or you don't.

It's psychology, man. Fan(atic)s will tie their self esteem or value in their team. If a player doesn't pick their school, it's like they aren't being validated. **** is crazy, but it's not exclusive to Miami. Actually, we are pretty mild in comparison.

There are reasons I'd prefer, but if they are going to make a real impact, I supposed the reason doesn't matter, as long as they come.

Because it may have an impact on other recruits and I want the best players at Miami.

huh

I will use the South Florida Handlers reason as my example. If there is a negative vibe, and a player does not come to Miami because of the negative vibe, it festers, and could lead to further loss of recruits --- it can be hard to overcome the negative perception, especially when the team has been down and still rebuilding.

There are handlers everywhere i just think its the cultural makeup of so fla if your referring to sofla prospects...kids have down here arent taught to just like 1 team ex alabama texas ohio etc....and every school comes here which makes recruiting even harder in the state....a former coach told me you have to be cut from a different cloth to recruit at um fsu uf

Sometimes there's some validity in analyzing the recruit to assess the ability of certain coaches, but mostly it's just to act like whiny mopes

it's a message board, otherwise it would just be a place to look at the list of recruits/commits.

I think that for the people that follow recruiting its just wanting to know more about the tactics and selling points the coaches are using. I think alot of people have concluded that all south Florida athletes should stay home and that's not the case. I know alot of people on this board are not where they originally grew up. they move for one reason or another but sometimes kids want to leave. it's a choice they make. but to know the specifics of why a recruit doesn't choose Miami we just want to yell and scream about what we need to do better. Im just happy I didn't grow up rooting for a team like utep who never wins that would have sucked lol. recruiting wold be pointless as well.

For the same reason companies spend millions of dollars trying to figure out why consumers prefer a competitor's product over theirs: so they can improve their product or simply market it better to attract more people into buying it.

There are reasons kids don't want to go to Miami that UM can't control. It's too far away (for non SFLA guys), the stadium sucks, not the typical college atmosphere etc. But there are plenty of reasons kids don't want to go to Miami that they can control. Fans want to see the ones that they can control adjusted in such away that they don't result in turning kids off in the future.

Obviously, it keeps Canes fans fighting, connecting and rooting for the same team. Boards like this allow people to express their opinions, a good thing, or simply act like the jerks that they are. This board is for true Canes, and like most families is dysfunctional, but man its hard to accept some of the hate.

Well my point is do people feel better if they know the reason a kid comes here or goes somewhere else?

absolutely. why wouldn't you want to know some of the reasoning behind how recruits make their decision. also allows us to see trends and to see if things like say Dorito's defense actually causes us to get/miss on recruits. we will probably never know the truth but if given the option I would absolutely want to know why
