Gaytors Remaining schedule

What do we think from a non biased POV about their remaining games? It obviously makes us look better if they were to win out but it's tough to pull for them even if it does help our SOS. This is how I see it playing out.

1. **Aug 31** - vs. Miami (Home) L 41-17
2. **Sept 7** - vs. Samford (Home) W
3. **Sept 14** - vs. Texas A&M (Home) W
4. **Sept 21** - at Mississippi State (Away) W
5. **Sept 28** - **Bye Week**
6. **Oct 5** - vs. UCF (Home) W
7. **Oct 12** - at Tennessee (Away) L (Probably)
8. **Oct 19** - vs. Kentucky (Home) W
9. **Oct 26** - **Bye Week**
10. **Nov 2** - vs. Georgia (Neutral site in Jacksonville) L (Bigly)
11. **Nov 9** - vs. Texas (Home) L
12. **Nov 16** - vs. LSU (Home) Maybe W? I'll always root against Brian Kelly.
13. **Nov 23** - vs. Ole Miss (Home) L
14. **Nov 30** - at Florida State (Away) W (I think they beat FSU and I hate FSU more anyway.)

So potentially 7-5? It's tough because they could obviously go 4-8 or 3-9 too.
By any chance were you in Gainesville this weekend and drank the water?? If so, seek immediate medical help as you may have ingested fentanyl and meth

Dude, you are far more giving than I am. I have them beating Samford, and not by a blowout. Losing all the rest. They are not good.
It’s not only that they’re not that good, it’s that we took their souls on Saturday. It’s going to be really difficult for Billy to rally the troops and keep his team engaged after Saturday. This could get really ugly

depending on mertz injury they may just switch to lagway, i saw more out of him than mertz.... also by the end of the season if they consider it a wash they might switch to lagway that gives them more a chance to win.
I also don’t think Weigman and A&M are as bad as they looked. Notre Dame is a tough defense. Elko should have a good gameplan for UiF

We as fans do the dumb thing all the time where we think one game carries over to the next one

All depends on if their young QB can develop sooner than they ever imagined. If he can play well then they have a chance to win more than 4 games. If not, they will not win more than four games.
Yep this is the wildcard plus if Billy keeps him in after Mertz returns

I think they go 4-8. They probably win one they shouldn’t. Losses to A&M, UCF, LSU, UK, UGA, Texas, and Ole Miss.

They beat Samford (close game), probably beat Miss St, and beat FSU.

I did. Did you see Mertz?
Mertz didn't look terrible. Yeah he missed on some deep throws but like last year his short and medium game was fine. I think our DLine, specifically in the 2nd half made him look much worse. (Before they knocked his *** out of the game)

You could be right. We are overreacting anyway since Weigman at times looked like he could be a really good one last year

He played his *** off against us

1. **Aug 31** - vs. Miami (Home) L 41-17
2. **Sept 7** - vs. Samford (Home) W
3. **Sept 14** - vs. Texas A&M (Home) Toss Up. A&M is still talented on defense. Elko is a better coach. Think he makes some adjustments to that team in the coming weeks.
4. **Sept 21** - at Mississippi State (Away) L most likely. UF has been putrid on the road.
5. **Sept 28** - **Bye Week**
6. **Oct 5** - vs. UCF (Home) Toss Up. I'll lean a W. Jefferson looked awful as a passer. I think UF has more talent across the board to squeak that one out. Billy is fired before he can get back to his office if they lose though.
7. **Oct 12** - at Tennessee (Away) L (Blowout)
8. **Oct 19** - vs. Kentucky (Home) Toss Up. Curious to see UK this weekend vs So Car. Stoops owns UF though and is a better coach. Im leaning an L.
9. **Oct 26** - **Bye Week**
10. **Nov 2** - vs. Georgia (Neutral site in Jacksonville) L (Blowout)
11. **Nov 9** - vs. Texas (Home) L
12. **Nov 16** - vs. LSU (Home) L. LSU is a better team.
13. **Nov 23** - vs. Ole Miss (Home) L (Blowout)
14. **Nov 30** - at Florida State (Away) W (Gonna be curious what FSU team is still standing at the end. I think they make a change at QB soon. That team doesn't play for DJ, they don't seem to believe in him as a leader. Still think UF can beat them).

On the high end I have them 5-7. Low end its 3-9.

Hold up everyone, I'm not saying Samford is going to win, but..... they were winning until the half way through the 3th quarter 2 years ago against a much better UFag team. They scored 42 pts in the first half alone against them. Final game score was 52-70

. Don't count out the bulldogs is all I'm saying.

If they lose to UCF at home, and they have already lost to TAMU at home, then they probably pull plug on Napier right then and there and get a head start on their next HC.
Here's my question, though: Other than scouting, research, vetting, etc., how much of a head start can you get, particularly with the 12-team playoff running? No coach or coordinator is going to make a commitment in-season; even Mario, with all the obvious reasons to come to Miami, waited til after his conference title game. Unless you go get someone not currently coaching (Urban, Jimbo, etc) then you're still waiting til the first week of December for a hire. A midseason firing will tip off all those schools to firm up extensions and contracts with bigger buyouts (thinking Kiffin).

And if they really think they can make a run at someone in the playoffs, they will likely be, at the earliest, playing til December 20, if not into January. Yeah many coaches leave before the bowl game, but can't see that happening with the playoffs (though who the **** knows). So if they really want to roll the dice and try to get someone in the playoffs, kiss any kind of recruiting class goodbye this year, maybe next. And probably Lagway transferring at that point with the uncertainty. The expanded playoff really could change the coaching movement game.

I also highly question UF's financial ability to be able to continue to pay Mullens' buyout, $26m for Napier, his staff, buyout for the new coach, plus probably $8-10m annually for 6-8 years for a new coach.

True. He looked good last year before his injury which is why I was so surprised at how bad he was against ND.

Completely agree

Also I’m hoping the wheels are falling off in Gainesville and they’re gonna start to really show it

A loss to UCF and Coach nappy's seat starts to get hot and then the next 5 games are brutal. 0 -6 stretch and sling billy is gone.

I think his seat is already hot, due to booster dissatisfaction. I think more losses just cement whether they need to buy him out now, and then pay another coach's contract to step into their disastrous situation.

What game did you watch? Mertz looked terrible.

Not only did he LOOK terrible, his stats were terrible.

Mertz only completed 11 passes out of 20. FOR NINETY-ONE YARDS. Zero-point-zero touchdowns. One interception. A Quarterback Rating of 19.1. That is TERRIBLE.

Here are Mertz's completions:

11 yards (and it was a short pass with some YAC)
-3 yards (obviously a behind-the-line pass)
11 yards
19 yards
1 yard (obviously a short pass)
3 yards
7 yards
13 yards
5 yards
12 yards
12 yards

Both pass interference penalties on Miami were incompletions, the ball was inaccurate both times.

And the interception was returned for 67 yards.

That means that the NET YARDAGE from Graham Mertz passing the ball was

91 passing yards
+30 pass interference yards
-67 yards of interception return

54 yards. FIFTY-FOUR YARDS.

"He missed on some deep throws"? Good lord, he missed on EVERY deep throw except (maybe) the 19 yarder. ****, I'll give him full credit for that 19 yard bomb.

"His short and medium game was fine"? HOW? Let's say the "short game" was completions under 10 yards. So that is five completions for 13 total yards.

Now let's look at this magical "medium" game. But wait, it's only FIVE completions for 11, 11, 12, 12, and 13 yards. AND THE MEDIUM GAME IS WHERE MOST OF HIS INCOMPLETIONS CAME.

Stop It Michael Jordan GIF

If they lose to UCF, they'll take out a mortgage on the stadium, but he's toast. The Gator "elites" can't process that.

I had them going 6-6 before the season, and I'll stick with that.

CFB "sos" is typically useless until you get a look at the teams-- someone is always better than thought, and a few will be worse.

TAMU, LSU might not be that good, and FSU is on the verge of total implosion. Tennessee is on "overrated watch" and always seem to blow it against them.

Not to say anything "in their defense," but looking at the breakdowns, they had some inexcusable breakdowns on offense, and clearly they need to figure something out on the R-OL; however, there are a number of plays they defended very well, but Cam Ward made elite plays most won't typically pull off.

is OP a gators fan? no way they beat LSU, kentucky, or maybe even A&M and FSU
