When it comes to play calling covering OL deficiencies, I mean it helps, but at the end of the day they have to play especially if you're up against a quality opponent as we are.
3-Step Throws:
Pro - OL can short step and block, and QB out of shotgun, no time for pas rushers or blitzing
Con - Can't have longer developing routes, thus DBs/LBs can sit on short throws
Misdirection (i.e., motions or fakes):
Pro - Create space in the defensive backfield and for the ball carrier
Con - Your OC has to be on-point all day to call these plays, and these play calls usually happen later in the game to build up to these play calls
Additional pass pro blockers (i.e., 7 to 8 man pass sets):
Pro - Additional time to throw the ball and doubles up on any match-up issues
Con - Have to be extremely confident your Rec +TE can win that 1 on 1 match-up
There are other ways, but I didn't want to get into it.
I have confident in Enos', so it'll be interesting what he does and how he approach it.
He may have confidence in our OL and the previous regime was just **** poor at identifying their own players weakness' (i.e., square peg round hole scenario).
The first game of the year is the best to unleash a new OC, the opposing team has no film, its great! Personally I think Dan Enos runs a bit of dumber version of the Patriots offense.
