I think we are exactly the 8th choice, and only get in if the SEC invites 8 teams.

These guys think they’re winning 9-10 games in year 1, when Vegas has them at ~6.5 and they’ve got Aaron Philo under center.

These are the same people who said Sumrall was a bum when they lost out on Lane. Reminder also that Billy was 40-12 going into his first year at UF.

Sumrall is 43-12… And no, taking over a Tulane program on autopilot from Willie Fritz, and getting blown out in the CFP doesn’t make him any better than what Billy had going in four years ago.

The Gator guy makes some solid points. Billy did singlehandedly cause so many of their losses, for the reasons he stated. Everything he said was true. Sumrall seems to be a better game day coach and therefore they should gain one win a season based on this factor.

However, what he failed to mention was Billy's other main issues, which were player development and S&C (namely, the insane number of injuries). Yes, those should theoretically improve with a new coach (hopefully, ANY new coach), but it's not going to be an overnight improvement. Regarding player development, there are some very bad habits to unlearn/relearn. We have been through that transition and are well-aware of how even with the right coach, it takes a few seasons. And with the injuries, some aren't that big a deal, but some are, as they were serious an recurring. Gator fans seem to think that as soon as a player is back, they are good as new and there are no residual issues, which is always hilarious to me.

The outside making the playoff part ? Was he joking ? Losing 4 games would be considered a good season for the gators imo
 
One thing that frustrates me that I have explained to my uf friends, and I have seen nobody in any sort of media talk about is that Sumrall is really Billy/Norvell Jr. If you look at his resume his time at Troy was good but nothing spectacular and at Tulane, he was the given the keys to what Willie Fritz built and receded from that standard, it took multiple teams imploding for them to make their conference title this past year. Nobody notices because Fritz left them so ahead of the pack in that conf that Willie Taggart could have coached them to a conf title. If this story sounds familiar that’s exactly how Norvell got credit for Memphis, even though he was given a loaded roster and just had to hold on for dear life and not **** up. I think Sumrall could get them to 8-4 semi consistently but he ain’t the messiah people make him out to be and the way he runs his mouth, they will get their **** kicked every chance the rest of the SEC has to do it.
