What's funny about this is that this is probably one of the offseasons you don't want to have to hire a new head coach. Achievable candidates are guys like Franklin or Campbell at Iowa State but everyone's going to go after those guys. They're going to want to get Kiffin or Freeman but I don't see either leaving their respective places. UF/Penn State/Fsu (likely)/UCLA all competing for the same small pool. I also have a feeling other jobs may open up soon (maybe USCw)

UF going to make a play for Franklin right now, aren’t they?

Jimmy Sexton represents Kiffin and Franklin as well as folks on the hot seat (Norvell, Freeze, Beamer, Stoops)

He will likely get some of his other clients a bump (Lanning, DeBoer) along the way

Christmas time for Sexton. He will play all sides and universities will feel pressured and some FOMO and overpay

This is probably the worst year to be hiring a coach because anyone decent is going to have a bunch of big money schools throwing buckets of cash at them. The gator is **** bent on Lane Kiffin but let the real, in the NIL/portal era is UF a better job than Ole Miss? And even if Lane wants out of Oxford, UF is going to have to beat Penn State and likely Auburn for him. **** FSU may even make a run at him.

They could take a stab at Marcus Freeman but Notre Dame is still a much better job.

I don’t think their boosters are going to roll the dice on another G5 guy so that leaves James Franklin or some P4 coordinator. Maybe Eli Drinkwitz but Penn state is going to be on him too.

With Cig staying at IU, I'd expect UF to be the best job on the market, unless LSU opens up. If LSU opens up I could see Brian Kelly going to PSU or some ****. Even though I still will keep saying Golden to PSU seems like a legit good possibility, especially after Rhule seems unlikely.

UF imo is a better job than Ole Miss, and if they got Lane, I'd imagine Lane would NOT leave unless he had absolute guarantees regarding NIL... So imo that would be a bit of a problem. Financially the best Decision UF could probably make would actually be to hire Franklin. He wouldn't require a buyout like I assume Lane would (or his staff). He may actually take a minimal amount of money and just backload it due to the offset language in his PSU buyout. And he's proven to be a winning coach and quality recruiter.

Theres a bunch of guys like Dillingham, but he does seem like he's all about ASU being from there. Jon Sumrall is probably the best candidate from G5, but I'd expect the Kentucky job to open, so he could be deciding between Alma mater and the better job. Should be an obvious choice, but going to Kentucky would be a safe job for like a decade for him... Jamey Chadwell or Golesh would likely jump at the UF job, but do they really want to go with a G5 guy again? I doubt it.

One interesting name would be Matt Campbell at Iowa St. Hes kinda been a midwest guy, but no doubt UF would be a major step up, and He's a very highly thought of coach. Like after Lane he is probably the biggest pull UF could make for a CURRENT P5 HC.
The money I've heard is nuts, 93m for 5 years. I'm assuming that includes assistants and NIL but still insane.

Hard to imagine a better fit than UF for a smug, unlikable **** like Lane Kiffin.

The ESPN puff piece a couple weeks ago suggesting Kiffin has turned over a new leaf is just some bull**** quid pro quo by Jimmy Sexton to help drive up the price for the next cycle of coaching changes.

**Just like Sexton hoodwinked FSU into thinking Alabama was actually interested in Norvell -- when in fact the Tide's AD had settled on Kalen DeBoer at least a month earlier

Lane has things Humming at Ole Miss. They are giving him a blank check for NIL and he is loved there. Why would he leave to go to Jort land where, considering next years schedule, they will be calling for his job in 18 months.

Besides, there’s no more delusional fanbase in America than Florida. They think they’re Alabama and should be winning championships every year. Going 10-3 every year will get you a lifetime contract in Oxford. It will eventually get you fired in Gainesville.

I said a 100% **** like Kiffin would fit perfectly at UF

I didn't say Kiffin should leave Ole Miss and take the Florida job

I think this starts with them whale hunting and ending on Jedd Fisch.

LSU, Auburn and Michigan could potentially open. So that leaves a job market of PSU, UF, LSU, Auburn, Michigan, FSU. Not the year I’d want to be searching for the guy to resurrect my program.

Agree on Michigan and Auburn but the latter is a very mid job. Zero chance Kelly gets canned this year. If they lose 1-2 more, his seat will be warm for next year, though.

He hasn't squeezed Georgia to pay Smart recently.

LSU is 5-2 currently, game vs TAMU, Bama and OU still on the schedule. WKU should be a W, and Arkansas should be one as well, but they just pushed TAMU to the edge. I haven’t seen much from them that makes me believe they will win more than 1/3 of Bama, TAMU and OU. Plus it’s been widely reported he’s not liked there. If things slip I don’t see him surviving.

I don’t think Auburn is a better job on the surface. I do think the brass there is crazy enough that the NIL would be better and that could entice a coach.
