Tears Gator Tears

I would LOVE for them to go with a defensive minded coach, OMG the natives would be restless.

Fisch would be the best fit on that list, IMO, of the established names.

I like some of the rising names, but I don't think they can handle another G5, low P4 experiment, even though that's probably where they can hit the home run.

They keep bringing up Kiffin but I think that's contingent upon whether or not he feels he's maxed out what he can do in Oxford.
The way I look at it, anything he could do at Florida he can also do at Ole Miss.

Recruit at a high level ✅
Compete for SEC Championship ✅
Compete for CFP Slot ✅
NIL $ ✅
Salary ✅

He gets all of that and a far more understanding fanbase than what he’d get in Gainesville. Even 5 years ago, there were 20 jobs in CFB where you could realistically win a natty. Florida was one of those jobs. However, with NIL and the elimination of conference subdivisions (which prevented Ole Miss from ever doing anything), you can win as much at Ole Miss as you can at UF.

At Ole Miss he gets way more leeway as well… at Florida they want you head by Season 3

The gator has hired a non recruiting coach and a non coaching coach back to back

I have a great solution for this dilemma:
The first HC duo in CFB history, Austin Armstrong and Manny Diaz

Why hire one coach who can’t do one thing when you can hire two coaches who can’t do the one thing they’d be hired for?

They had two OLine coaches and it didn't help. Maybe they need a third one.

So they could have two head coaches and three offensive line coaches.

A lot of you are acting like we haven’t been part of this rodeo before.

How many g5 coaches have been taken to p4/5 programs because they got some team to perform well for a year or two.
Fuente, Frost, Taggart, Golden, etc etc.
Sometimes the stars line up with a roster and a qb. A lot of seniors, a good oc against sht comp and a qb like McKenzie Milton.

This has rarely translated to a top p4 program and even less has it brought stability.

The difference between these conferences as a head coach is so vast and under appreciated by the average fan.

I would even go as far as to say that it’s probably easier to go from g5 to the NFL than to a p4 program with lofty expectations. That may sound ridiculous but take a closer look.

Over 85 players. Staff sizes that easily outnumber your average nfl team. On field coaches now expanded, NIL, boosters, agents, babysitting spoiled brats, establishing a winning culture to teenagers, recruiting all year round plus the portal, development.
Now try to that in a rebuild while knowing you have a pool of millionaires and even billionaires have you on a timeline.

Yes this also happens at g5 but the stakes, the size and the pressure are exponentially higher.

You have to absolutely go after someone who has done it at this level and been successful.

But then there is the other side of the story. Does the school understand what it takes to have a successful cfb program?

The BOT and the admin have to realize that it may not be the coach that’s the problem.

If the same people keep making the decisions and those decisions never lead to success, then the people that do the hiring are likely the problem.

If I’m uf I hire Franklin and ask him the same thing that we asked Mario… what do you need from us for this to be successful?
And if he says you need to clean house at your house because I know what I need inside of mine. And if those things aren’t aligned then they gotta go.

Because a g5 coach may likely have no idea wtf he’s getting himself into or think that he can fix it without any changes to the people that outrank him.

There is some degree of irony that this thread called gator tears is where we are going to cry when they finally fire his ***

Girl, we’re gonna miss you

I could see kiffin taking it for the exact reason you said. He took ole miss to top 4. If he can take ole miss to top 4 he’s probably thinking he can take the gator higher… provided that’s important to him. I’m sure in not the only one who stayed in a job because of a good environment rather than jumping at a higher offer. I jumped more when I was younger. As I got older I valued other things higher on my criteria than I did as a young guy.
I almost guarantee you’ll hear his name because his agent will be there and he’s just going to get himself a big *** raise from our friends in Mississippi and then they will cry in this thread some more

I can see this too. If I were Kiffin I wouldn’t leave Ole Miss to coach the Gator. He’s got an upper level ranking on his team and plenty of money and support without the Gator fan pressure. Life’s good in Kiffinland.

I know they said Billy was gone after the game but they gonna fire him after a win?….tick tock MFers tick tick

I don't think they keep him. Billy almost messed up really bad again at the end of the game.

I was watching it. Florida had a chance with just under 2 minutes left to ice the game. I think Miss State still had 2 TO left. They had a 3rd and 1 around their own 40-45. Instead of running the ball with Baugh, they rolled out Lagway for a pass. It wasn't there and he took a 10 yard sack. Miss State called one of their TO's. UF punted. Miss State started moving the ball. They got well within FG range with 30+ seconds left. The UF crowd was chanting "Fire Billy." Then, Miss State's qb throws a pick to a UF d-lineman that dropped back into coverage. They barely survived and got bailed out by a great play by the defense.

Billy is done once UF decides when to pull the trigger.

The best option is to absorb whatever loss they would have to tomorrow or Monday. This is appears to be the new norm.

Let the remaining staff try to keep the recruiting class together, re-recruit players from jumping into the portal, and the Admin get a head start on a coaching search. The Gators would still have to back channel coaches with jobs but an open position removes some uncertainty.

Unless the AD is also on the hotseat and won't make the call.

In which case the Admin should do both, and allow the new AD to hire a new HC.

Of course, we prefer Billy sign a new extension.

With all of that, they can absolutely fire him after a win!
